Job Summary:

The Effector RF and Communications (ERFC) Department is seeking current college students for an RF Antenna internship position. In this role, the candidate would support the development of RF products and technologies including antennas, RF electronics, and supporting test equipment as part of a multi-discipline team. A successful candidate is one with the skillset and passion required to solve complex engineering problems, properly apply engineering tools and processes, and leverage knowledge from previous coursework and projects.

The ERFC Dept is seeking talented engineers with the skills and passion to work on complex projects that shape antenna, radome, and antenna measurement system technology within the company. The selected candidate will be contributing to diverse teams and executing tasks in various antenna and radome design life cycles. This is an intern-level Electrical Engineering position for an individual with educational experience and/or professional interest in the application of technical antenna principles, concepts, and techniques.
All Candidates will work within a larger team at Raytheon.  Interns perform meaningful engineering tasks for their assigned projects, and will also have access to a variety of career development opportunities.  These include access to technical mentors and the ability to “shadow” experienced professionals in order to learn about real industry positions.

This position is located in Tucson, AZ and is an on-site role.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

• Development of antenna or radome hardware and requirements.
• Working with interdisciplinary engineering teams including thermal, structural, mechanical, systems, etc.
• Working with antenna manufacturing suppliers.
• Antenna modeling and simulation execution on workstations and high performance computing resources (HPC).
• Analyzing simulation or measurement test data to verify performance to requirements.

This position can be a Sophomore, Junior, Senior or Post-Graduate based on the candidate's qualifications and standing as outlined below:

• (Sophomore Technical Intern) - must be enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program
• (Junior Technical Intern) - must be enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program
• (Senior Technical Intern) - must be enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program
• (Post-Graduate Technical Intern)- must have an undergraduate degree and be enrolled in a graduate degree program (in degree fields listed in Qualifications You Must Have) by start of internship

Basic Qualifications:

• Must be a Sophomore, Junior, Senior or Post-Graduate by the start of Summer 2024 in Electrical Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) degree.
• Proficiency with modeling & simulation tools such as HFSS, CST, FEKO, SENTRi and/or GRASP
• The ability to obtain and maintain a https://U.S. government issued security clearance is required. https://U.S. citizenship is required, as only https://U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

• ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
• https://3.0 cumulative GPA or higher is desired.
• Solid background and practical understanding of designing GPS antenna systems (to include experience or relevant course work).
• Model generation and simulation experience with conformal antennas (to include experience or relevant course work).
• Proficiency with Python, MATLAB and/or other high level scientific programming languages
• Proficiency with high performance computing (HPC) environments and schedulers such as SLURM
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with coworkers from diverse communities and cultures.
• Demonstrated ability to work with colleagues who represent a diversity of work and conflict resolution styles.
• Class projects, professional internships, or academic research demonstrating the ability to apply technical coursework.
• Self-motivated problem solver with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
