    Job Description:

    This position has a primary responsibility for the Operational support of Advanced Measurements and Structural Data Recording group. This encompasses the laser-based Non-Interference Stress Measurement System (NSMS), clearance measurements, and structural data recording on experimental and production turbine engines and rigs. This job is onsite, typically M - F and may adjust shift based upon engine requirements. (1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift). During heavy workloads there are overtime opportunities on weekends. This technician task also encompasses supporting design reviews with the Instrumentation design group for establishing sensor design and installation drawings, sensor installation and routing during engine build, set-up of NSMS data acquisition systems, clearance sensor calibrations, sensor installations in engines, Laser and detectors checkouts/repairs, and high-speed data acquisition during engine test.  Candidate must build working relationships with other technicians, instrumentation engineers, test engineers and the assembly floor mechanics. Good verbal and written communication is a requirement.  Must be driven, self-motivated and self-managed at times.  Weekend and off-shift work must be supported on occasion. Tasks may also include involvement with Thermal Imaging, and blade-out support.  When working offsite test support, represent P&W at the highest level of ethics and respect towards the customers. Opportunity to travel to test facilities at locations around the world.  The selectee will need to be or become familiar with, laser safety, Electro-Optic devices, and Thermal Imaging cameras.

    Basic Qualifications:

    • HS Diploma or AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
    • Must be a US citizen due to government contracts
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Government security clearance

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Knowledge of instrumentation types and sensor applications in the aerospace industry 
    • Experience in sensor wiring, terminations, egress, signal conditioning and data acquisition system operation and troubleshooting 
    • Sensor types include but not limited to strain gages, accelerometers, pressure transducers, thermocouples, proximity and blade positioning optical measurement equipment.
    • Successful candidates will have a good balance between mechanical and electrical aptitude.  
    • Strong background in MS Office and experience in other signal acquisition or processing software
    • Experience with laser safety, multimeters, O-scopes, data recording equipment, power supplies, Electro-Optic devices, and Thermal Imaging cameras
