The Auxiliary Power System (APS) group is currently looking for an Advanced Technologies manager to join our team in support of military Auxiliary Power Units (APU) and Turbojets (TJs). The position will provide leadership to our technology, project, and program management teams. You will focus on building technology development strategies to maintain and advance Pratt & Whitney’s technical readiness for legacy and future engines; and anticipate P&W’s future technology needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Communicate technology needs, both inside and outside of P&W. Develop strategy and technology roadmaps.
Lead funding and execution of technology projects to promote technical readiness level (TRL) progression.
Maintain an integrated technology portfolio.
Partner with Survivability Discipline Group, Advanced Military Engine Programs, Advanced Military CIPTs, Advanced Materials Group, and other organizations, as appropriate, on research and technology needs.
Provide technical mentoring to team members and develop the talent pool to support future projects.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience, or
Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years’ experience in Engineering/Other Technical
Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in Project Engineering or Program Management
An ideal candidate should be passionate about technology development and possess a research culture mentality with an ability to think outside the customary engineering development process.
Candidates will benefit from a strong technical background and disciplined, rigorous critical thinking abilities. Candidates should have demonstrated ability to lead and advance numerous concurrent projects with excellent communication and presentation skills.
Working knowledge of APU operation
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or technical discipline is preferred
Advanced Degree in Mechanical Engineering or technical discipline is preferred
Aerospace industry experience is preferred
PMP certification desirable
