Hot Section Engineering (HSE) module center is looking for a highly motivated leader to join our team as Advanced Combustor Systems Subject Matter Expert. This position reports to the Director of Technology, HSE, and will provide technical leadership for combustor technology development for both advanced commercial and military engines. This highly visible position directly benefits HSE and PW next generation product vision. With the wide range of technology advancement projects for HSE hardware, this position offers an outstanding opportunity to broad experience in key technical areas and interact across Engineering through the HSE and Aero-Thermo Fluids (ATF) technical disciplines and Component Integrated Product Team (CIPT) Leaders, Engineering managers, chief engineers and technical fellows. As such, this role requires solid core competency strengths in both strategic and tactical leadership capabilities.
Current HSE technology development activities include components for the next generation TALON combustor, Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF), and hydrogen fuels. In addition to internally funded projects, key activities also involve interacting with other RTX divisions and external companies to augment internal funding and develop additional capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver technology strategies and solutions through collaboration with advanced military and commercial engine program leadership including SAF and Hydrogen with internal and external funding sources
Support the Combustor Technology Manager and Combustor Fellow by driving technology development and transition, including manufacturing, to advance the readiness level per customer requirements and in accordance with cost/budget, schedule, and on-time delivery targets and collaborating to develop technology roadmaps, capital investments, and business metrics to meet workforce and financial objectives.
Develop business cases and strategies with leadership team to prioritize the key technology development plans.
Basic Qualifications:
BS in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field
12+ years of engineering experience and leadership in combustion devices, OR MS in a related field and 10+ years engineering experience and leadership in combustion devices.
US Person Status with security clearance or ability to obtain a security clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
Skilled in combustor design, thermal analysis and project management preferably demonstrated in multiple combustion disciplines and integration of those systems into vehicles.
Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
Strong business mindset with deep technical understanding.
Technical and strategic leadership experience, supervisory experience helpful.
