    Position Overview:

    The Standard Missile 3 (SM-3) Block IIA program team is seeking to hire an Associate Director, SM-3 IIA MC Respin Program Manager. The program manager will report directly to the Standard Missile 3 Development Director and is responsible for the proposal, negotiations, capture, startup and execution of a critical obsolescence replacement development effort. You will need the ability to quickly onboard to an ongoing proposal effort that is geared at capturing a program that will replace an obsolete processor circuit card, port all existing embedded software to the new hardware processor baseline, then complete an integration, test and production insertion effort.

    You will serve as the key driver in leading an aggressive schedule to provide an updated production hardware baseline, qualified and ready to support deliveries before the existing supply of baseline hardware is depleted. Additionally, you will build and lead an execution team that includes a proposal and startup effort. The proposal and execution teams will be split geographically between Huntsville AL, where the hardware design team is located, and Tucson AZ, where the software and systems teams are located, as well as the program office. Following contract award, the program manager will own the profit and loss responsibility for the resulting program effort.

    Responsibilities To Anticipate:

    • Proposal development, Gate 4 and contract negotiations.
    • Program baselining, startup and Gate 5.
    • Collaboration with the other SM-3 IIA hardware replacement efforts executing concurrently to drive efficiency and balance execution risk approach.
    • Partner with functional organizations such as finance, contracts, engineering, supply chain and operations.
    • Developing and conducting program execution status reviews with the SM-3 IIA program leadership team.
    • Maintaining a direct customer counterpart relationship with the MDA obsolescence PM.
    • Leadership of a transition to production effort, inclusive of tight collaboration with the SM-3 IIA production team.
    • Ability to effectively work in a hybrid (onsite & remote) capacity with 50% being onsite in RMD offices and facilities.
    • Ability to lead a geographically distributed execution team.

    Qualifications You Must Have:

    • Typically requires a Bachelor degree and 12 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree and minimum 10 years of experience is required
    • Relevant experience in program or project management
    • Earned Value Management Systems (EVM) or similar experience managing cost, schedule, and technical performance
    • Proposal or contracts experience
    • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.  U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

    Qualifications We Value:

    • Experience working government programs (large/complex) with direct customer interfaces, both internal and external
    • Experience with the Missile Defense Agency, customer community and acquisition experience
    • Program management experience on efforts inserting hardware changes into an active production line
    • Background in hardware development for DoD product applications
    • Prior experience on high visibility program execution (production or development)
