*Note: Hybrid and remote roles at many of our sites are currently working from home because of COVID-19 protocols. Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process.

The Lead Project Engineer will primary technical leader primary decision maker for all engineering activity for the Pratt & Whitney Bell Valor Helicopter APU development program.   

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical execution of engineering activities for programs

  • Provide technical leadership to the entire Bell integrated product development team and mod center support

  • Manage the assigned program activity in alignment with the respective PW Management system manual processes as well as all other applicable project management level 2 and level 3 procedures (Specifically section 1.5 Integrated Program Deployment and section 4.0 Develop and Design product)

  • Ensure all engineering activity is appropriately planned, baselined, and tracked via Earn Value Management Systems (EVMS).  Ensure all IPTs are tracking to their plans.

  • Manage overall program milestones though tracking and providing execution communication 

  • Coordinate overall program technical communications

  • Ensure technical scope changes are coordinated with the program management team leadership

  • Communicate effectively (verbally and written) to program team, management, and customers

  • Drive world class reliability through fleet monitoring and field investigations / Relentless Root Cause & Corrective Action activities

  • Work with PW Mod Center functional managers to ensure proper resource plans are in place

  • Maintain overall program technical risk assessment including the identification of program level technical risk mitigation plans and establishing and tracking tasks to reduce risk

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or technical discipline and minimum 12 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in Mechanical Engineering or technical discipline and minimum 10 years’ experience

  • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder

  • Must have the ability to travel 10%

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Project Engineering or Program Management

  • Aerospace industry experience is preferred

  • PMP certification desirable

  • Demonstrated success leading and working with multidisciplinary teams
