    Job Overview:

    We are looking for an entry-level (new graduate) Avionics Systems Engineer to work in our Business & Regional Avionics organization. The applicant must have a high degree of accountability and ability to work well in a diverse team environment. The ideal candidate should have an engineering curiosity that inspires the creation of innovative solutions for the aerospace industry.

    Primary Job Responsibilities:

    • Support requirements capture from aircraft Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM)

    • Decompose and allocate requirements to appropriate domains within Collins Aerospace

    • Support the creation of test procedures to verify requirements

    • Support the creation and completion of certification artifacts

    • Support customer questions and investigate issues related to software and hardware delivered to the OEM

    • Support investigations of root causes of issues discovered during flight test and in-service aircraft operations

    • Lean, understand and support activities to manage scope, schedule, and cost while optimizing engineering resources

    • Support cross-functional team development which include customer stakeholders and subsystem engineers

    • Communicate engineering design solutions both orally and written with customers, other engineers, technicians, pilots, and leadership

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Basic experience working within an aerospace related engineering development environment

    • Basic experience or deep academic knowledge of aircraft systems is a competitive advantage

    • Basic experience with DOORS, JIRA, JAMA, and data capture tools or any other tools that achieve the same functions.

    • Experience or knowledge using data bus tools such as A429 and A664 readers for data analysis in design, prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting

    • Basic experience with the AGILE framework for workflow planning and development

    • Basic working knowledge of a software language such as Python, C++, is an advantage

    • Aviation experience such as a Pilot’s License or Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Part 107 License

    • Experience or an educational background covering requirements capture & definition, integration, verification & validation testing.

    • Basic knowledge or experience in creating and documenting engineering design approaches.

    • Basic knowledge or experience with various data transmission protocols like ethernet or ARINC type standards.

    • A basic understanding of general design or engineering change processes to successfully create, integrate, test, and deliver features in an engineering or technology environment

    • Experience or knowledge of engineering/technology requirements capture and configuration management tools.

    • Knowledge or familiarity with interpreting engineering standards in a design and development environment

    • A collaborative attitude, accountability for actions taken, execution to plan, and a self-motivation that produces superior results
