    Pratt & Whitney is seeking a Fan/Compressor Airfoil Fellow to join our Compression Systems Engineering (CSE) organization with broad expertise in the design, manufacture, inspection, and repair of turbo-machinery airfoils. The intent of this position is to substantially improve design, quality, delivery, and cost signatures and drive end to end alignment across the airfoil value stream leading the way with digital initiatives to achieve world class standards for performance, quality & cost.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Establish & lead a community of practice for airfoil vane value streams.
    • Proactively & strategically address points of failure within design, manufacturing and quality processes to solve quality and yield problems.
    • Drive design, manufacturing & inspection standards aligned with supply base capability.
    • Ensure close alignment companywide within RTX, focusing on cohesive methods & strategies for airfoils.
    • Develop strategic initiatives and pursue competitive benchmarking and awareness of industry trends.
    • Support development of Engineering Knowledge System and ETU Training.
    • Integrate digital thread initiative.
    • Coach and mentor Mechanical Design Engineers, identifying Technical Experts as succession planning.
    • Drive special initiative funding efforts for airfoil technology.
    • Report status of initiatives to senior executives.
    • Must have highly developed interpersonal, leadership, teaming and problem-solving skills.
    • Significant interaction with internal and external suppliers is expected. Communication skills and assertiveness are key qualities to possess.

    Basic Qualifications

    • B.S. in Engineering. and 14+ years of experience OR
    • M.S. in Engineering and 12+ years of relevant experience.
    • Candidate must have broad knowledge of turbomachinery airfoils

    Preferred Qualifications

    • BS in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial or Aerospace Engineering with 20+ years of relevant experience; OR
    • Advanced degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial or Aerospace Engineering with 18+ years of relevant experience.
    • Turbomachinery design experience with a concentration in gas turbine engine airfoils.
    • Candidate must have broad knowledge of turbomachinery airfoils (including fundamental knowledge of design, aerodynamics, structural, manufacturing, and inspection processes).
    • Substantiated ability to successfully work across organizational boundaries on complex tasks with minimal oversight is required. 
    • Proficiency with Mechanical Design tools, including NX, TeamCenter or equivalent is desired.
    • Proficiency with Airfoil inspection tools and methods is desired.
    • Black Belt six sigma certification desired.
    • Travel requirements – up to 20%
