Position summary

The position you are applying for is with Vertex Technology & Training Solutions which was formerly Raytheon Global Training & Logistics.  The Vertex Company acquired Raytheon Global Training & Logistics in December 2021.

VERTEX OVERVIEW

The Vertex Company is looking for an experienced Contracts Professional to provide US Government and International contracting support for the Technology & Training Solutions (TTS) division.  Vertex is a leading defense company providing customized engineering, modernization, operation, integration, logistics, and sustainment services and solutions; specialized onsite mission execution; high consequence training programs for military and commercial customers; and vertically integrated turnkey life-cycle support including all levels of aviation maintenance, worldwide contractor logistics support, assembly services, systems integration, and integrated supply-chain solutions.  

This position is based in Orlando, Florida; however, remote telecommuting will be considered.  Candidate will work in a challenging, fast-paced environment.  Some travel may be required. As an experienced Contracts Professional, this position requires you to contribute to the Vertex Company’s strategic growth goals by providing business counsel and contractual support to several important division contracts and captures.  This opportunity will provide you with significant exposure to senior leadership and a platform to accelerate contractual technical capability and business acumen.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Subject matter expert for interpreting US Government and International acquisition regulations, RFP requirements, and contract requirements
  • Sound business advice in shaping customer requirements
  • Front-end engagement to structure sound business arrangements
  • Ensure proposal review process is thorough and proposal complies with approved parameters
  • Negotiation strategy development
  • Proposal support – negotiation strategy development, contract language development, understand cost and pricing concepts, lead negotiations, ensure adequate disclosure of cost and pricing data, ensure contracts reflect negotiation outcomes, identify and resolve organizational conflict of interest (OCIs), and formulate collaborative agreements (e.g. PIAs, TAs, etc.)
  • Contract negotiations
  • Governance to the program team in ensuring contract terms and requirements compliance
  • Identify noncompliant terms and conditions and work with proposal team to mitigate risk
  • Contractual/program risk mitigation
  • Document change, negotiate equitable adjustments, and support contract dispute resolutions processes
  • Focal point to customers for all contractual matters
  • Contractual issue resolution and closure
  • Contribute to process and policy improvements
  • Maintain currency with changing regulations and industry best practices
  • The ideal candidate is a team-player, uses original and independent thinking to assist division leadership in formulating and executing business strategies to reduce risk, enhance customer satisfaction, build positive customer relationships, improve profitability, and support business opportunity development.

Required Skills:

  • Minimum of 8 years of professional contracts or related experience
  • Demonstrated leadership
  • Knowledge of and experience with FAR and DFARs
  • Ability to work within a team and foster trust from both external and internal customers
  • Experience establishing pre-negotiation objectives and utilizing negotiation skills to obtain objectives
  • Experience researching compliance issues and applicable laws/regulations, and developing innovative solutions to unusual and complex contracting issues
  • Ability to interpret and comply with company policies and procedures
  • Effective communicator:  strong analytical skills, strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills with both external customers and internal senior level management
  • Ability to work with all management levels across functional organizations and the Government, creativity, and problem solving
  • Ability to take the initiative to handle complex administrative and contractual problems
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance
  • Highly motivated and organized, customer-focused, positive and enthusiastic attitude, and ability to work independently with minimal oversight
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to clearly recognize risk elements in business transactions
  • Candidate must have the ability to obtain and maintain DOD Secret security clearance

Desired Skills:

  • Experience working various contract types (e.g., FFP, CPFF, T&M)
  • Experience with competitive pursuits
  • Experience with Foreign Military Sale (FMS) contracting
  • Understanding ITAR and export licensing
  • Experience and in-depth knowledge of change management and leading negotiations
  • Experience with being the customer interface and demonstrated success in building strong customer relationships
  • NCMA/IACCM Certification

Required Education:

BS/BA in Accounting, Business Administration, Business Management, Contract Administration, Supply Chain Management, Economics, Business Law or any major related to this job description

Desired Education:

Master’s Degree in business, contracts, law or related field

prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience

Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a

minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
