    Position Summary:

    We are seeking an enthusiastic, collaborative, and dedicated Cyber Engineer to be part of the Cyber Operations group which is responsible for monitoring and responding to potential incidents, managing vulnerabilities and risk, designing & implementing defensive technologies to combat cyber threats, as well as contribute to the development of current and future skillsets and capabilities within the department.

    In this role you will assist in implementation and integration of COTS security solutions and infrastructure deployments that enhance and address cybersecurity efforts of the organization, in addition to management and compliance of existing security technologies deployed throughout the enterprise.

    You will maintain existing security technologies including Network Monitoring rule tuning, Proxy and/or Firewall administration, and SIEM management and improvement.  You will be involved in planning and design of future security technology deployment and will therefore require staying up to date or performing research related to the latest in attack techniques and/or defensive tactics to make effective recommendations. 

    Additionally, strong communication and interpersonal skills are critical to convey information in a tactful manner and at the technical proficiency of the audience.

    Responsibilities to Anticipate:

    • Applying a combination of knowledge in enterprise IT and security solutions to integrate, develop, and implement solutions to ensure they are consistent with enterprise architecture security policies.
    • Supporting the maintenance and support of existing security technology deployments, such as SIEM management, IDS alert tuning, firewall and proxy configuration, etc.
    • Supporting the development and design of future security technology deployments.
    • System hardening and auditing against industry baselines such as CIS, DISA STIGs, NIST, etc.
    • Collaborating with team members to assist in incident response, remediation activities.
    • Staying up to date with current vulnerabilities, attacks, and countermeasures.
    • Ability to lift up to 25lbs
    • Ability to work in office as needed in Fulton, MD

    Qualifications You Must Have:

    • 5 or more years of progressive technology experience in design, deployment, administration, and configuration of cybersecurity tools
    • Technical understanding of OSI model, TCP/IP, and basic system administration
    • Experience with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools (e.g. Splunk preferably or, QRadar, Elastic, LogRhythm, AlienVault or similar)
    • Experience with firewall and proxy technologies (e.g. Palo Alto, Cisco, Forcepoint, Fortinet, Sonicwall, BlueCoat, and /or Barracuda)
    • Experience with IDS/IPS, NSM technologies (e.g. Snort, Zeek, Cisco Sourcefire, Corelight, Fireeye)
    • Experience with NAC and DLP technologies (e.g. Cisco, Forescout, Forcepoint, Digital Guardian, McAfee or similar)
    • Experience in security compliance through NIST 800-171, including implementation, adherence, and auditing against control families
    • US Citizenship

    The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

    Qualifications We Value:

    • CISSP Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months
    • Highly motivated with the ability to provide creative solutions to complex problems
    • Ability to communicate well in oral and written form
    • Experience performing incident response including system and network forensics
    • Experience red teaming or penetration testing
    • Network administration or design experience
    • Familiarity with DevOps concepts
    • Proficiency in scripting via bash, python Powershell or similar
    • Security Certifications such as GIAC, CEH, CHFI or other security certifications
    • Advanced Degrees
    • Active Secret Security Clearance

    Typically requires:

    A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience.

    Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
