Job Description:
Pratt and Whitney Engine Design & Systems Integration (EDSI) is looking for a Systems Analysis Operability Principal Engineer to lead the operability analysis in support of a next generation military propulsion program. The EDSI organization strives to merge legacy integration disciplines covering both physical and functional integration such that our next generation of systems engineers have capability to function across both domains. The ideal candidate will have experience in operability analysis including stability audit development, transient control schedule generation, lean blow out analysis, and engine starting. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have experience utilizing Agile for Product Development (APD).
Responsibilities:
Leading operability analysis across the systems analysis team
Mentoring other team members in the operability discipline
Stability audit development and analysis
Development and evaluation of control schemes and schedules including participation in the Control Requirements and Analysis Team (CRAT).
Creation and maintenance of system operability requirements in the SRD
Test planning and analysis of engine ground and flight test data to assure compliance to requirements
Verification and documentation of engine transient response
Verification and documentation of engine starting capability
Integrating operability with airframer supplied installation information
Integrating operability via EDSIT & SSIPT participation, especially with regard to tip clearances and duct losses.
Contributing to Discipline Councils and participating in program read-across where appropriate
Contributing to subdisciplines’ process improvement strategy and tasks
Maintaining and updating the engine transient model
Managing internal and external transient model releases
Development of Open Loop NPSS
Travel is 10%
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and 8 years of relevant industry experience, or Advanced Degree in Engineering and 5 years of relevant industry experience
2 years of Operability discipline experience
US Citizenship required due to government contracts
US Government full SECRET clearance
Ability to obtain further enhanced security clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
5 years of Operability discipline experience
Agile for Product Development (APD) experience
Technical experience in Aero/Thermal disciplines
NPSS modeling proficiency
Experience with systems design and systems integration
MS with emphasis on gas turbine performance and operability, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, systems engineering, or computer science.
