Collins Aerospace has an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Design Engineer.  We’re looking for an electrical engineer with a passion for aerospace to design and support Electric Power Distribution products. The candidate will be expected to support both new product design and ongoing support for existing distribution products as well as bridge the gap between the hardware, software, and systems teams. This role will include regularly troubleshooting complex problems, developing solutions, and communicating outcomes while working with other circuit, electronics packaging, software, and system engineers. The candidate would ideally be familiar with aerospace design processes, and procedures such as DO-160 and DO-254.

Must be a commutable distance from Rockford, IL to work a hybrid schedule reporting on-site as needed.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Troubleshooting design-related problems for both in-service and development products
• Creation of design concepts and requirements for new programs
• Advance designs for the product with a focus on re-usability for future programs
• Collaborate across disciplines to complete project milestones and objectives

Qualifications/Experience Needed:

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and a minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience OR an Advanced Degree in a related field OR in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience
• Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, or a similar discipline preferred

• Experience in electronic circuit design and testing preferred

• Experience working in a team environment and communicating across multiple disciplines and levels of management preferred

• Ability to read wiring schematics preferred

• Aerospace experience preferred

• Familiarity with DO-160 and DO-254 hardware design processes preferred

• Experience with technologies related to specific power distribution systems preferred

• Experience with Word/Excel/ PowerPoint preferred

• History of continuous improvement and relentless root cause methodology preferred

• Firmware experience preferred
