We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to support the Test Equipment Engineering team for aerospace products and systems. The role involves developing and reviewing electrical requirements, detailed specifications, and electrical circuit design for complex automated test equipment. Our standard test equipment hardware solutions are National Instruments PXI, cRIO, FPGA and labVIEW based along with custom designed electrical solutions. Strong electrical troubleshooting skills are critical to the role. The Electrical Engineer will help ensure that new and existing automated test sets meet the product testing and test coverage requirements. This is an onsite position with some flexibility to work remotely depending on the phase of the assigned project. The test engineering team also offers the unique ability to learn cross-functional aspect of test equipment design including mechanical, software, systems, and project management when outsourced hardware solutions are used. The team is focused on new test equipment development with a secondary mission to support test equipment previously released for manufacturing operations.
Primary Responsibilities:
Design, analyze, and troubleshoot circuit and PCB products
Develop and maintain test documentation, plans, procedures, and reports.
Write test requirements and detailed design documents.
Work with vendors to develop complex automated Test Equipment
Troubleshoot complex issues that may be software, hardware, system, or product related to determine root cause and corrective action
Communicate technical issues through written, verbal and presentation media.
Support to the manufacturing/operations group as needed to help ensure on-time delivery of product.
Interface with Customers, External Suppliers, Program Managers, Engineering Managers, Mechanical, Software, Electrical, and Systems Engineers, as well as the Manufacturing organization.
Management of various projects with small teams of test engineers and outsourced test equipment hardware build.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations Advanced Degree in a related field and 2 years of experience OR
In absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience is required
Experience working with and/or managing remote resources.
Ability to work in a dynamic environment where priorities change.
Able to work both autonomously as well as part of a team.
Strong organization, communication, and multi-task skills
Hands-on Aerospace / Military hardware design, build, test and integration experience (or in regulated industry)
Competent in using Microsoft Office applications
Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Matlab, Simulink, Mentor Graphics (Dxdesigner/Expedition), SPICE or similar electrical simulation tools
Strong background in electrical troubleshooting
National Instruments Certified LabVIEW Developer (CLD) or Certified LabVIEW Embedded Developer (CLED)
Familiarity with standard avionics busses including 1553, ARINC, CAN, RS485, RS232, and 1394
Experience with PXI based National Instruments hardware, cRIO, FPGA, and data acquisition systems
Familiarity with project planning, budgets, and Microsoft Project
Exposure to test systems for one or more of the following: electronic subsystems, battery subsystems, GPS subsystems, fin and/or canard control subsystems, mission computer subsystems, telemetry subsystems, inertial navigation systems
Able to function at a high level with multiple tasks and projects, and to effectively change direction based upon business needs.
