Collins Aerospace, Systems Test Equipment, is seeking an Electrical Engineer.  The candidate will be responsible for supporting the design of test equipment and test setups for the development and qualification of aircraft power generation systems.

This is a job that always has a new challenge as Collins Aerospace continues to invent the future of aircraft electric power systems, including the exciting new area of electrified propulsion.

The candidate must be an analytical thinker and be adept at design, build, and checkout of test setups.  The candidate will work with instrumentation, data recording, and design of electrical systems and aircraft representative harnesses.  This position will function as a member of a multi-disciplinary team and will support our systems test labs.  The ideal candidate will be a creative member of the team who will assist in developing the vision for upgrading our test equipment to the latest technology. 

Must be a commutable distance from Rockford, Ill, to work a hybrid schedule reporting on-site as needed.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Evaluate test plans and formulate requirements for test equipment
• Analyze requirements for unit testing interfaces and electrical circuits
• Design harnessing and feeders for test equipment and test setups
• Incorporate instrumentation into test setups including flows, pressures, electrical load, torque, vibration, and temperature
• Coordinate the build, checkout, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical system test setups with the hourly workforce (electricians, testmen, etc.)
• Create drawings, presentations, and papers to document designs
• Create project estimates and work within budget for time and cost

Qualifications/Experience Needed:

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience OR an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience OR in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.
• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Electrical design and integration experience

• Ability to work with test operators to modify and setup test equipment

• Prepare and present analysis, reports, test results, and other contract deliverables related to analyses performed

• Ability to work on large and small projects

• Ability to understand or support LabView software development
