    This position is in the Power & Controls Engineering Laboratory and is an hourly bargaining unit position.  The Engineering Laboratory provides experimental testing services for research, development, new product validation and verification, and in-service field problems.  The Lab’s test facilities are organized into several specialized labs, including Pneumatics, Fuel, Hydro-Mechanical, Electronics/EMI, Vibration, and Metrology Labs.  Our development focus is Electric, Environmental, and Engine Systems, Propulsion, and Space Systems.

    Onsite:

    • The work associated with this position will be performed onsite

    Plan, perform and verify the testing of components, product, and the fabrication, calibration, and maintenance of test rigs and instrumentation while practicing and complying with environmental, health and safety directions and procedures.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Plan and perform a variety of electrical, electro-mechanical and electronic functional test operations
    • Troubleshoot and perform rework (solder and mechanical) and trim on various assemblies
    • Plan operational method and setup to carry out calibration of shop instrumentation and standards
    • Plan and carry out the building and fabrication of test equipment and fixtures installing and wiring together various components, units, instrumentation, switches, and controls; layout and cut/drill to accommodate
    • Perform maintenance and minor repair of test equipment and test rigs
    • Select and use handbook formulas and shop math ex. Algebra. Plot, graph, and record calibration data
    • Prepare and maintain records and sketches
    • Coordinate with Engineering in establishing calibration procedures
    • Monitor flow of work and recommend changes to maintain deliveries to net requirements
    • Instruct one or two fellow employees in effective use of equipment proper techniques, sequence of operation, and other job-related topics
    • Improve process and solve problems in cooperation with fellow employees and supervision
    • Keep equipment and surroundings neat and clean
    • Perform related duties as required within the scope of this job function

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent
    • 2 years of relevant experience
    • Must be a U.S. Citizen

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience with wire management and building wiring harnesses

    • Mechanical fabrication experience

    • Extensive knowledge of electronic and electrical theory principles

    • Experience working with electronic diagnostic tools, such as Oscilloscopes, Digital multimeters, Spectrum analyzers, Function generators

    • Ability to troubleshoot, repair and rework circuit boards/components

    • Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematic drawings

    • Excellent soldering skills for both through-hole and surface-mount components
