Position summary

We’re looking for a highly motivated and collaborative communications professional to join our Raytheon Intelligence & Space (RI&S) Executive and Employee Communications (E&EC) team as a principal specialist, Employee Communications.

In this role, s/he will work closely with the Executive and Employee Communications team and others across the organization to execute strategic communications plans for two primary executives and functions, Digital Technology; Legal, Contracts & Compliance; and Global Security. This position will research, write, and develop compelling content to deliver outcome-focused communications across a variety of channels; track metrics for data-driven insights; and develop strategic recommendations and content for executives.

Under the guidance of Communications leadership, this communicator will:

  • Draft routine communications such as all hands invites, video scripts and presentations; internal stories; leadership messages; newsletter submissions; and more.
  • Develop communications plans that connect to major initiatives and campaigns, including metrics for success.
  • Develop communications plans for executives to support employee engagements.
  • Serve as project manager for employee engagement events, including developing executive-level briefing materials and coordination with speakers, IT, Advanced Media, and more.
  • Send routine emails through Poppulo under leadership banners.
  • Support metrics tracking and analysis for team to drive strategic data-driven approaches to communications
  • Work with broader Communications team to support projects and create content for use through a variety of channels
  • Work with team to develop and maintain content for FAQs
  • Other duties as assigned

Typically Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, or Political Science with 5 years of related experience
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and social communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail and a sense of urgency, strong work ethic, and positive attitude
  • Ability to adapt tone and style of communications to suit different specialized and general audiences
  • Strong executive presence and experience with executive coaching/counsel
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interface with all levels of employees, leadership, and external organizations
  • Demonstrated success working effectively in cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage time and resources, organize, and prioritize work across multiple projects, be detail oriented and work within tight deadlines
  • Communications and marketing analysis, including the ability to use data for impact
  • Ability to effectively manage time, prioritize tasks, and work within deadlines
  • Demonstrated agility and adaptability to changes in direction
  • Proven ability to balance and deliver on multiple projects
  • Capable of message simplification
  • Strong understanding of Associated Press writing style

Desired Skills:

  • Experience working in a deadline-driven environment
  • Agile, adaptable to changes in direction
  • Self-starter with a natural curiosity to investigate details and drive deliverables to completion
  • Although the written word will be a primary vehicle for messaging, s/he will also have visual storytelling capabilities to help bring messaging alive in video, presentations, and through imagery
  • Experience communicating to a geographically diverse employee population, including non-desk and/or non-intranet connected employees
  • Knowledge of, and experience in, the aerospace and defense industry
  • Adept at building relationships

Travel Required: Infrequent travel to U.S.-based sites may be required.

This is a hybrid role, with the candidate ideally being commutable into any RI&S location listed.
