Job Summary:

Aero Thermal Systems (ATS) and Air Systems Design & Integration (ASDI) engineers architect, design, and develop secondary flow and ventilation systems to address component thermal and clearance requirements. Cutting edge and outside the box thinking is necessary to ensure the secondary air system (SAS) remains lean and efficiency as the cycle requirements are driving the thermodynamic propulsion to competitive levels.  The challenge is to maximize customer and business value and air system efficiency while meeting component requirements of pressure, temperature, flow, and structural lifing.  The SAS must also meet bearing load and flange blow off load requirements, thermal gradients, and component clearance requirements. Aero Thermal System engineers work with the module centers, while the Air Systems Design Integrators work at the system level to achieve balanced solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Daily tasks focus on secondary flow analysis, but understands “the big picture” and works across other aero thermal system skill areas to achieve program deliverables
  • Combine module center air system flow model and produce TCOOL and MUDS
  • Supports other system SAS activities, executes trade studies and completes ESW tasks
  • Focuses on task execution and provides results and feedback to program or SSIPT lead, discipline management and EDSI teams
  • Works with design, structures and discipline specialist and leads to optimize air system for acceptable bearing loads, part life, and thermal conditioning for clearance control

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a https://U.S. government issued security clearance is required. https://U.S. citizenship is required, as only https://U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
