    Department Overview

    Aero Thermal Fluids Engineering professional, working under some direction. Designs, develops, and tests power plants, aircraft, and parts, formulates conceptual design of certain products, and develops advanced models. Performs system level analyses and prepares technical reports.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Under minimal direction, designs, develops, and tests a variety of power plants, aircraft, systems, and/or parts.

    • Performs system / component level analyses of test results and uses the results to prepare technical reports of findings and recommendations.

    • Execute low to medium complexity thermal analysis via 2D and 3D finite element analysis (FEA) and/or low to medium complexity CFD analysis, using the latest P&W Engineering Standard Work, analytical tools, and engineering judgement.

    • With minimal direction, creates and implements common procedures and standard work across the organization.

    • Communicate technical results to internal and external customers.

    • Able to manage small projects or processes.

    • Coaches and reviews the work of lower-level professionals.

    • Influences others regarding policies, practices, and procedures.

    • Attend and have participation in group meetings, teleconferences and/or training required.

    • Actively participate in initiatives for continuous improvement using CORE tools and support AS9100 efforts. Become a CORE Apprentice.

    • Support project management activities.

    Basic Qualifications

    • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field

    • Minimum 2+ years of relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in Engineering

    • US Citizenship is required due to government contracts

    • English fluency (verbal and written)

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with CAD and ANSYS to perform Finite Element Analysis for Thermal Analysis, engine datamatching, component lifing.

    • Experience with FLUENT, or similar tool, for CFD analysis and Ensight for post-processing

    • Experience with Microsoft Office applications

    • Strong communication, interpersonal, time management and organizational skills

    • Team oriented and cultural awareness

    • Experience mentoring and coaching entry-level engineers

    • Innovative and continuous improvement oriented

    • Experience with programming tools (PYTHON, Microsoft Office Macros, ANSYS Macros, MATLAB) is a plus
