    Job Summary:

    The Materials & Processes Engineering (MPE) department is seeking talented engineering college hires to join our Engineering Development Program (EDP).

    By becoming a member of the Pratt & Whitney Engineering Development Program (EDP), you will receive hands-on training to help you build your career in aerospace. This accelerated program will provide you an opportunity for professional growth as a college new hire and train you to be a future leader of the organization. College undergraduate and graduate hires are allowed to complete three to four assignments to build technical breadth and leadership abilities before graduating from the program. These rotations are complimented by discipline-specific training that will accelerate the development of EDP participants.

    The program typically consists of 3-4 rotations over 36 months in the areas of:

    • Materials development for aerospace alloys, coatings and polymers/composites
    • Materials and engine component analysis through electron microscopy and other scattering techniques
    • Process and analytical chemistry
    • Non-destructive evaluation
    • Mechanics of material and component behavior
    • Materials property and process modeling
    • Material data analysis, statistics and applications to engine design

    ​Following the EDP, the participant is expected to outplace in a group that aligns with their longer-term career goals and interests.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for engine component, materials and/or chemical process development, analyses, testing and other support functions for both commercial and military engine applications.
    • Specific tasks may include mechanical testing, materials analysis, metallurgical or chemical analysis, inspection processes or coating property analysis.
    • Document and analyze data/results, prepare reports and presentations, draw conclusions and make recommendations based on their findings.

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Master's degree, or Bachelor's degree with 2+ years' experience, in Materials Science Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related engineering/sciences field
    • Must be a https://U.S. Citizen. This position may require access to systems/tools that are restricted to individuals who possess US citizenship
    • Minimum GPA of https://3.0

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Interest in building a technical or management career in applied materials development and characterization
    • Have strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and demonstrated experience working effectively in teams as both a leader and a participant.
