    The Engineering Team Lead is responsible for coordinating engineering activities required to deliver products. The engineering activities include processes for turning opportunities into desirable, reliable, quality, producible, and profitable solutions that meet customer needs. This includes working with teams inside and outside the department and managing projects of various scopes.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Coordinate and accountable for engineering activities such as quotes, contract reviews, product setups, engineering changes, production support requests, fixtures requests, drafting logs, equipment implementation, returned materials, corrective actions, and engineering projects  

    • Lead new programs / products through production and ensure product meets cost, delivery, and customer/internal specifications requirements including coordinating efforts with other teams

    • Identify all tools and fixtures required to manufacture the product to the specifications

    • Work with operations team to drive efficiency by innovating our assembly and manufacturing processes

    • Improve both manufacturing and business processes by eliminating waste

    • Ensure a safe working environment is set and maintained

    • Develop, design, acquire, or create new equipment for improved productivity, efficiency, and safety

    • Maintain excellent documentation of process changes and follow change management processes

    • Analyze data, interact with operations, and collect information to achieve root cause problem solving

    • Identify, assess feasibility, and manage change for continuous improvement initiatives

    • Utilize Lean principles to setup and improve work cells including: 5S Workplace Organization, Value Stream Mapping, Visual Factory Management, Error Proofing, Total Productive Maintenance, Kaizen, Kanban/Pull Systems, Set-Up Reduction, and Standard Work.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.

    • Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience OR

    • In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required

    • Must be a U.S. Citizen

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Project Management experience/certification

    • 3 + years’ experience in a comparable engineering role

    • Relevant experience in implementing the principles of Lean Manufacturing

    • Fluent with desktop computers and ability to use Microsoft office with proficiency

    • Ability to read and understand customer/internal documentation, blueprints, and work instructions

    • Working knowledge of cable and harness assemblies

    • Experience of new product introduction processes

    • Experience of Military / Aerospace procedures, specifications, and regulations

    • Familiarity with the use of Autocad and Solidworks systems

    • PLC programming and setup
