    Collins Aerospace is looking for an Environmental, Health and Safety Specialist to act as a partner in EH&S by formulating and administering EH&S plans and procedures including EH&S Program Management. You may have responsibility for multiple EH&S specialties.

    As a Safety Specialist, you will coordinate the site’s safety programs. This role supports the site’s journey to ZERO (Zero injuries, zero environmental releases, and zero repeat incidents) as well. The EH&S Specialist will coordinate various aspects of safety from confined spaces, electrical safety, daily safety walks and various inspections/audits. 

    **Position is required to work onsite at our Troy, OH facility.  

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Execute activities related to the Environmental, Health and Safety functions at the Troy site.
    • Support the site’s journey to ZERO, BBS, and VPP Star Site certification while maintaining ISO 14001 and all certifications/permits with ZERO major audit findings or impacts to government or legal.
    • Assists in all activities related to the Environmental and Compliance functions at the Troy site.
    • Supports all activities related to the EH&S Training functions at the Troy site.
    • Work with the Site Management Team and Safety Committees to ensure the best Environmental, Health and Safety practices and standard work are relentlessly driven across the site. This is completed through developing, implementing, reviewing, auditing, and improving the company’s Environmental, Health and Safety policies, management system and programs.
    • Provide guidance on corporate, governmental, and legal Environmental, Health and Safety policies, directions, and strategies to site.
    • Set up and monitor progress of Environmental, Health and Safety compliance as well as analyze site trends. Report to site leadership and to the corporation on EH&S goals/targets and objectives against these standards.
    • Lead audits and inspections of premises in conjunction with others to monitor performance and assist the relevant management to produce action plans to implement the necessary improvements/actions.
    • Develops, organizes, and maintains relevant records, produce reports and review metrics to include the Risk Assessment for Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) with various stakeholders in Central EH&S, Business Units and at the site level in their decision making.
    • Provide Environmental, Health and Safety subject matter expertise to assist in the design of products and processes related to the site. This is to include providing guidance and tools to manage and implement a robust management of change process.
    • Oversee, review, update and implement the facility environmental, health and safety programs, permits, reports, training, and procedures.
    • Enter corrective actions into the EHS SMART system and track closure. Assign all corrective actions to the supervisor, manager, and site leader for follow up.
    • Provide timely information and guidance regarding EH&S performance trends, root cause corrective actions for injuries and near misses; and support in the development and implementation of strategic action plans to achieve the company goal of having a hazard-free workplace, injury-free employees and an unmatched commitment to compliance and sustainability.
    • Coordinates and conducts specialized Environmental, Health and Safety audits and inspections of premises and operations in conjunction with others to monitor performance and assist the relevant line management to produce action plans to implement the necessary improvements.
    • Analyzes facility and employee practice issues for opportunities to apply EH&S procedures to solve problems or improve EH&S policy effectiveness.
    • Assist onsite medical, management team, and supervisors to communicate events, and coordinate medical workplace surveillance to ensure that the site meets all corporate, state, and federal requirements.
    • Work with vendors to ensure site meets PPE requirements.
    • Leads and supports special projects as needed.

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Typically requires bachelor’s degree and 2 years of prior relevant experience OR In absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience is required.
    • Must be a U.S. Citizen
    • Project management experience
    • Experience applying technical knowledge of manufacturing processes.

    • Experience working in a union environment.
    • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
    • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
    • Certified Hazardous Material Manager (CHMM)
    • OHST (Occupational Health and Safety Technologist)
    • CPE (Certified Professional Ergonomist)
    • PE (Professional Engineer)
