Position summary

Collins Aerospace is looking for a Global Trade Specialist who will support all business functions of Aerostructures Global Trade (GT) Program Management at domestic and international sites. You will be part of a dedicated team that will support the Global Trade Operations and Program Management teams, including but not limited to Program Management, Authorization Drafting and Management, Export Classification Determination, Global Trade Training, and Project Management.

Position will work remote (San Diego area, preferred), with visits to various sites as needed.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Export Licensing (ITAR/EAR), Managing and drafting of export licenses, training, administrative activities
  • Project management and reporting on GT Program Health
  • Perform Export (Commodity, Technology/Technical Data, and Software) and Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) Classification determinations under US and non-US regulations
  • Provide regulatory interpretation and guidance in the following areas: Anti-boycott/Restrictive Trade Practices, export Control Classification, Compliance training, Export Documentation, Tariff Classification, Sanctions and Embargoes
  • Advises internal management or business partners on the implementation or operation of complex compliance programs to ensure business objectives are in compliance with all relevant laws and guidelines
  • Assesses emerging compliance issues with management or employees to identify the potential impact of future laws and regulations on the organization
  • companies.
  • Maintains, analyzes and reviews applicable trade compliance records in accordance with regulatory requirements to ensure legal compliance
  • Establishes and maintains training and audit / assessment programs to ensure implementation and effectiveness of internal controls
  • Conduct audits to assess the export/import compliance and assist in determining and implementing corrective actions where necessary
  • Provide guidance to site functional teams regarding visitor management, technology marking, technology transfer methods, international travel, reporting and other administrative requirements for export compliance
  • Continuously evaluate current processes and recommend relevant changes or improvements to increase efficiency/productivity
  • Additional GT activities assigned by a direct or indirect GT manager

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of prior relevant experience OR
  • Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience OR
  • In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required
  • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder
  • Experience working with and drafting U.S. government export authorizations
  • Experience in performing Export and Tariff Classification
  • Able to communicate and make presentations to leadership on business challenges
  • Knowledge of the various export authorization types/uses under each set of regulations
  • Program/product knowledge and general knowledge of technology transfer requirements and restrictions
  • Flexible, cooperative and collaborative; demonstrated ability to adapt to changing US Government and customer conditions
  • ERP experience
  • Able to travel up to 10% domestically and internationally

Preferred Qualifications

  • Continuous Improvement Tools experience i.e. Lean, Six Sigma or ACE
  • SAP/GTS experience
  • Experience in Aerospace operations is desirable
