    Department Overview:

    The Product Safety, Certification and Validation (PSCV) Test Engineering Organization is seeking a highly-motivated, creative, energetic, hands-on Player/Coach Test Engineer to support experimental military and commercial jet engine test activities. The position is primarily on-site to support practitioners and test articles.

    Occasional off-shift coverage and ability to flex schedule to cover weekends is required to support 24/7 test operations

    Occasional travel up to 10% to offsite test locations within the United States (TN, FL, etc.) and potential for travel to test sites around the world

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Possess knowledge and understanding of validation programs, testing, and instrumentation requirements for engine development. 
    • Possess ability to work under pressure in a high paced environment.
    • Must have good communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment to ensure test operations readiness and flawless execution of test vehicle plan, tests and inspections. 
    • Must interface with CIPTs and Systems engineers to ensure test requirements are being met on time and within budget.   
    • Coordinate potential hardware replacement and maintain part life records.
    • Conduct and assist in engine inspections.  Coordinate and drive engine maintenance activities. 
    • Maintain engine configuration awareness & documentation through engine history record sheets.
    • Effective skills working in a team environment to ensure test operations readiness and flawless execution of test vehicle plan, tests and inspections. 
    • Drive to meet requirements and prevent any delay, while maintaining highest quality of work.
    • Provide innovative solutions to test requirements, often in a high-pressure environment while working with minimum supervision.
    • Provide technical direction and daily task coordination, cross functional team leadership, troubleshooting, engine direction, and execution of developmental sea level and flight testing.
    • Mentor Connecticut based Ground Test Engineers as Player/Coach, engaging directly with test teams to train, mentor, and increase technical proficiency and standardization
    • Provide run qualified test coverage on as-needed basis
    • Identify potential efficiency, technology, and training initiatives

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Bachelor of Science in Engineering
    • 10+ years of experience in Engineering or 7+ years with an advance degree
    • 10+ years of experience with jet engine hardware, assembly, and testing
    • Sea Level run qualification
    • US Citizenship required due to government contracts
    • Security clearance or the ability to obtain one

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Aeronautical, or Aerospace Engineering
    • Experience testing propulsion systems at various facilities/conditions, to include Sea Level, Altitude, RAM, Icing, and Flight
    • Experience leading jet engine test and assembly teams
    • Extensive knowledge of engine performance and test data analysis
    • Experience leading continuous improvement processes
    • Flexibility to adapt to fluid customer requirements, priorities, and schedules
