Job Description:

This is a Design Engineering position within Engineering Support to Operations Organization is located Pratt & Whitney facilities in Holt, Michigan.  Pratt & Whitney Cold Section Engineering Support to Operations (CSE ESTO) is looking for a self- motivated and detail-focused design engineer to support specific engine hardware on critical airplane engine programs. This engineer will be responsible for performing detail design and analyses for compression system hardware and will work collaboratively to arrive at solutions with integrated product teams. The candidates will have the opportunity to gain exposure to a variety of commercial cold section rotating and static hardware.  Possible opportunities include design of commercial blades & airfoils, rotors, hubs, cases, vanes modules owned by P&W.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsibilities include support in the design of low-pressure turbine components, including Fan Blades on 30K engines and provide support for production and engine deliveries as needed, with emphasis on 30K fan blades.
  • Support the design and analysis of Fan, Low-Pressure Compressor (LPC) using the latest P&W Engineering Standard Work, analytical tools, and engineering judgement, including ANSYS and MATLAB Software/
  • Oversee outsource engineers on daily production support activity and proactive tasks to maintain outsource technical quality.
  • Challenge and nurture our processes to become more efficient, responsive and more effective.
  • Document analyses and present results and associated recommendation to integrated part teams, management, and customers.  Utilize the ability to interface at all levels of PW management.
  • Applies technical knowledge to provide solutions to challenging tasks containing limited variables

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5+ years of prior engineering experience, OR An Advanced STEM Degree and a minimum of 3 years of engineering experience.
  • Must be a https://U.S. Citizen. This position may require access to systems/tools that are restricted to individuals who possess US citizenship

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced STEM degree from an ABET approved school.
  • Engine cold section design experience, fan blade design preferred.
  • Capable of handling multiple tasks across various hardware and engine programs at a time and working as a team leader or as an individual contributor in a group.
  • Experience in either Aerospace/Mechanical engineering with focus turbine engine components.
  • Good communication skill, both written and verbal.
  • Able to work effectively with minimal direction in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment.

Travel: Less than 25%
