Linux System Administrator (Hybrid)

JOB SUMMARY:

Raytheon Technologies is looking for a Linux System Administrator to join a team of SAs providing client support.

WORK LOCATION:

Work responsibilities will temporarily be done both onsite, in-person in the Pasadena, CA area and offsite, remotely from home for the first 2-3 months after hire. After then, work responsibilities will transition to being done primarily onsite.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

May include, but are not limited to the installation, configuration, and maintenance of:

• Enterprise infrastructure (switches, storage devices, SAN and NAS devices)

• Physical and virtual machines (servers, VMware ESXi VMs, cloud instances)

• RHEL-compatible operating systems (RHEL, Oracle Linux)

• Opensource and commercially available Linux services, applications, and technologies

• Implementing new and working with existing backup solutions to perform data backup/restoration

• Documenting processes, procedures, and technical walkthroughs

• Monitoring systems and responding to incidents (at times during off-hours)

• Security vulnerability remediation and system migrations

• Client support via on-site visits, phone calls, emails, and ticketing systems

QUALIFICATIONS YOU MUST HAVE:

• Typically requires a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience OR an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations. In lieu of a degree, 13 years of relevant experience will be considered.

• Four or more years recent and uninterrupted experience as a Linux System Administrator

• In-depth knowledge of RHEL/RHEL derivative Linux (components, commands, layout, maintenance).

• RHEL Security Hardening procedures and best practices

• Experience deploying Linux services and applications such as LAMP

• Excellent user interface / interpersonal / written and verbal communication skills

• Deep knowledge of common Linux application, service, networking, and storage technologies

• Thorough knowledge of containerization and orchestration (Docker, K8s, Podman, Singularity)

• Excellent work ethic and an eagerness to learn

• Ability to perform self-guided work without direction as well as successfully collaborate in a team environment

• Ability to learn and grow skillset as needed to support client requirements

IT WOULD GREAT IF YOU ALSO HAD ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING:

• Cloud Platforms [Amazon Web Service (AWS), preferred]

• Salt Configuration Management

• Scripting (Bash, Python, PHP, etc.)

• Continuous Integration/Delivery (Jenkins)

• Versioning (git)

• Infrastructure and image management (terraform / packer)
