Position summary

The Whole Life Engineering (WLE) Central Department is made up of several disciplines whose main objective is to influence hardware and systems throughout their life cycle to ensure effective operation, reliability, system safety, maintainability and economical ownership by the customer and end user. We have an immediate need for a Maintainability/Testability Engineer with experience in multiple WLE disciplines to be a member of a team comprised of System Safety Engineers, Reliability Engineers, and Supportability Engineers.

The candidate will be a detail-oriented self-starter to perform WLE tasks in accordance with established procedures.  The candidate will be an integral part of the WLE team as a Maintainability/Testability Engineer supporting various programs.  The individual will conduct the following tasks, as necessary, in order to influence product maintainability/testability:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate on the development of effective maintainability/testability, Built-In test (BIT), and diagnostic technical solutions
  • Develop BIT, maintainability/testability and diagnostic associated requirements
  • Perform testability analyses to verify diagnostic effectiveness and facilitate troubleshooting activities at all levels of factory test and maintenance
  • Perform maintainability analyses to verify designs meet maintenance requirements
  • Confer with hardware/software design teams to define sub-system failure modes, their effects on the system, and associated detection and isolation methodologies
  • Collaborate with hardware/software design teams to develop diagnostic test capabilities
  • Participating in trade study investigations to optimize the design for diagnostics
  • Develop source data for design reviews and customer presentations
  • Generate formal reports to document analytical results
  • Develop BIT Algorithm Description Documents
  • Provide technical support for systems planning, execution, and documentation activities

Required Skills:

  • Minimum 2 years of related experience

  • Experience with maintainability/testability analysis tools

  • Experience in failure modes and mechanisms related complex system designs

  • Experience in working with software/firmware development and implementation

  • Experience performing circuit analysis and evaluating circuit designs

  • Experience analyzing data from a variety of sources using standard modeling tools

  • Experience in cross functional team environments

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

  • Ability to obtain DoD Secret Clearance

  • U.S. Citizenship

  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems.

Desired Skills:

  • Existing DoD Secret clearance
  • Experience working with and interpreting interfaces between hardware and software
  • Experience with testability/diagnostics aspects of system development engineering
  • Experience with product testing and troubleshooting in the factory/depot or field environment
  • Experience applying systems principles, processes, and analysis
  • Experience working across multiple organizational levels
  • Experience with mechanical CAD authoring or design evaluation
  • Ability to function well in a high-pressure multi-tasking environment
  • Radar/EO-IR system experience
  • Possess strong people and change agent skills
  • Diagnostic dependency modeling experience
  • Experience working in the DoD customer community (US Army, US Air Force, US Navy)

Required Education: BS degree in electrical or systems engineering, physics or related technical field.

Desired Education: MS degree in electrical or systems engineering, physics or related technical field.

U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.

Relocation Eligible: Relocation assistance available provided final candidate meets eligibility requirements.
