Pratt & Whitney is planning to invest at least $650 million through 2027 in a world-class turbine airfoil production facility in Asheville, North Carolina. The new 1,000,000-square-foot facility will house an advanced casting foundry for the production of turbine airfoils as well as conduct machining, coating and finishing of airfoils onsite.

The new, state-of-the-art facility will implement best-in-class manufacturing technologies and processes exemplifying industry 4.0 manufacturing principles and will complement existing turbine airfoil work that is done across Pratt & Whitney’s facilities.

The Blades Manufacturing Engineering organization within the Asheville site is seeking experienced and motivated Process Manufacturing Engineers to help develop and drive continuous improvements in all aspects of the assigned manufacturing area. Key blade manufacturing areas envisioned are grind/EDM, hole drill and finishing processes (weld, airflow, x-ray, etc).

*This position will be based on-site in Asheville upon facility completion 

Key Responsibilities:

• Own all technical aspects of the assigned manufacturing area.
• Coordinate with machine tool builders on technical requirements.
• Work with vendors on durable and perishable tool design. Own the result.
• Write part specific CNC programs when needed. Support production implementation.
• Develop detailed work instructions for processes within designated area.
• Participate in PPAP/MRL activities related to assigned manufacturing area.
• Participate in lean manufacturing initiatives and support improvements in cell layouts.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field.
• Hands on manufacturing know-how and advanced problem-solving skills are a must for this position.
• US Citizenship required due to government contracts

Preferred Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience in a precision manufacturing environment.
• Broad knowledge of the Aerospace Industry and experience in Turbine Engine parts manufacturing.
