Manufacturing Manager, Operations (on-site)

Operations Quality Engineering Manager will focus on managing the Operations Quality Engineering group inside the Quality Organization in Rome, NY. The goals of this group being best quality to customer and internal technical requirements and reduce process waste (scrap and inspection time).

Primary Responsibilities:

• Manage a team of approximately 10 employees and contractors.

• Perform hiring, compensation, setting goals, reviews, and feedback activities for their team.

• Establish metrics to track performance of all cells on quality and execution. Manage said metrics with team to identify areas for continuous improvement.

• Develop and standardize inspection methods and work holding in conjunction with Ops QE team and Manufacturing Engineering team.

• Develop and standardize format for inspection operations and/or steps inside process books (utilizing Solumina software)

• Develop and standardize process for ZDP, PPAP, and APQP activities in conjunction with Design Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering.

• Lead and Mentor teams through RCCA Efforts on inspection methods, fixturing, standardization, and feedback into NPI Engineering.

• Reviews process control documentation to ensure it is in compliance with requirements, objectives, and/or contracts.

• Develops proactive quality initiative strategies and drives their implementation.

• Performs Escape management procedures, root cause analysis, and recommends corrective action for design problems for internally produced products & processes.

• Responsible for development of new inspection technologies or methodologies to assure product conformance and production output.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of prior relevant experience OR

• In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required

• Experience managing a team

• Experience with a Quality Management System

• Experience with a Continuous Improvement System i.e. Lean, ACE, Six Sigma, etc.

• Experience in a Manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree or 9 years of relevant experience

• Experience in a Quality Engineering, Manufacturing engineering, or Design Engineering role in operations and/or inspection (i.e. creating inspection methods, creating manufacturing plans, design for manufacturability activities)

• Experience or knowledge of APQP and PPAP

• Direct experience in generating and executing quality plans, control plans and PFMEA

• Experience in Aerospace industry or ISO9001/AS9100 certified manufacturing facility

• Experience in structured RCCA approaches (DIVE, 8D, faut tree, redX, etc)

• Knowledge and/or experience with FAA regulations
