    Collins Aerospace is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer who will Perform mechanical design activities in support of composite and metallic nacelle and aerostructure components. You will conduct design trades, product improvements and certified product configuration definitions considering safety, strength, weight, cost & producibility.  You will also work with both domestic and global engineering support teams on technical aspects of the mechanical design activities.  In addition, you will have opportunities and exposure to a variety of aircraft structural components and products.

    Preferred work status is Hybrid. Position open to remote.

    Primary responsibilities

    • Conduct design layouts, support design reviews, perform detail design through engineering release
    • Generate engineering definition suitable to fully define the design requirements for both domestic and international customers.
    • Participate in continuous improvement activities and events.
    • Perform detailed design work for aircraft components, assembly layout, systems integration, and configuration control
    • Create drawings and model based definition using CATIA v5 within Enovia.
    • Participate in Continuous Improvement activities and lean events.
    • Perform other duties as required

    Basic Qualifications 

    • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of prior relevant experience OR
    • Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
    • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder
    • Mechanical design experience
    • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
    • Experience with 3D modeling software

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Aerospace experience
    • Interface Control Documents (ICDs), design requirements, producibility, and assembly procedures
    • Experience with CATIA v5
    • Nacelle and Engine Build Up (EBU) experience
    • Experience working with international teams
    • Experience in composite material structure and design
    • Able to communicate and present technical findings

    The salary range for this role is 75,000 USD - 161,000 USD; however, Raytheon Technologies considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills. Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.
