    This individual contributor for Employee Relations is for a professional that has deep knowledge in employee relations and exposure with labor relations. This position will administer employment relations programs, and manages projects focused on employee relations initiatives. This position will provide employee relations support for our facilities in Vergennes, VT, Binghamton NY, and Medford, NY. 

    This position will be worked hybrid to our Vergennes, VT site with two days a week remote variable on business needs. Relocation assistance is available.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Provides guidance on matters related to contractual policy and corrective action to ensure compliance with relevant company regulations; works with legal professionals to confirm the legal issues involved in these matters.

    • Seeks the advice and guidance of HR professionals to obtain information on total rewards, talent management, and other HR policies and programs to inform the decision-making.

    • Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to managers and employees (i.e., coaching, counseling, mentoring, disciplinary actions)

    • Attend, participate in, and maintain records related to employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.

    • Interact with employees to better understand workplace complaints, conduct appropriate investigations, and resolve disputes within situations that might have varying degrees of ambiguity, including excellent follow through and documentation.

    • Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.

    • Advise and train managers in best employee relations practices and strategies.

    • Maintain employee and workplace confidentiality.

    • Mediate and resolve employee relations issues; conduct thorough and objective investigations when necessary.

    • Daily work may be a blend of tactical vs. strategic work in support of the business.

    • Ensures Corporate and site policies and procedures are communicated, adhered to and understood by all employees.

    • Works with limited oversight to administer employee relations programs and policies.

    • Ability to travel up to 10%

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience. 

    • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. Collins Aerospace will not offer sponsorship for this position.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • This position will be in Vergennes, VT; candidate must be willing to relocate to or be local to the preferred location.

    • Successful track record of providing expertise, consultation, guidance and coaching to managers and employees to address sensitive and/or difficult employee behavior and performance concerns. 

    • Ability to develop and effectively leverage relationships across HR and within the business unit

    • Ability to coach, consult and influence leaders regarding the importance of good “people” practices and the links to business success; ability to conduct effective presentations, facilitate meetings

    • Ability to be approachable and empathetic to employee needs.  Ability to remain tactful, calm and persuasive in difficult situations.

    • Comfortable in a fast -paced environment and able to manage through ambiguity and change.

    • Natural problem-solving abilities to improve situations for employees and business objectives.

    • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills including the capacity to successfully relate to all hierarchical levels

    • Experience with conflict resolution in the work environment and mediating between parties.
