At Raytheon Missiles & Defense, you have the opportunity to try new things and make a bigger difference across a broader end-to-end solution, a richer technology and product set, an expanded range of disciplines, a growing global footprint and a more diverse team of colleagues and customers.

    Job Summary:

The Effector Power (EP) Department supports key Raytheon Missiles and Defense (RMD) products, by providing mission-critical designs relating to power conversion, motor controls, flight termination systems, telemetry, and other analog domains.

We are looking for early career engineers who have power electronics knowledge, including a digital power focus, to help design robust power systems for important national defense products.

We value diverse skills and experience, so don’t hold back. Your qualification could add tremendous value to our team. Our customers come from all different backgrounds, and so do our employees. If you’re passionate about what you could accomplish here, we’d love to hear from you.

    Responsibilities to Anticipate:

    • Analyze, simulate, test, and document power conversion (and related analog) circuitry.  This circuitry will dominantly involve non-isolated switch mode power converters and linear converters.  Main emphasis is on board-mounted power end use applications.

    • Begin to understand circuit level architecture decisions.

    • Become aware of the design phases of a circuit card.

    • Further awareness of digital power conversion concepts.

    • Further awareness of software control schemes relating to digital power conversion, and how to guide related software development.

    • Perform duties with awareness of schedule concerns.

    • Engage in ECAD activities to refine understanding of placement and routing concerns relating to power electronics.

    • Understand the role of an individual contributor in a team.

    • Understand the path of technical growth at RMD.

    • Clearly present your work product to immediate supervisors.

    Qualifications You Must Have:

    • Must have conceptual familiarity with basic EMI Filter concepts.

    • Must have conceptual familiarity with analog electronics design, including at least two of the following:  FET/BJT logic level, op-amp, high/low/band pass filters, clock/data termination, and comparator circuits, along with an understanding of how these circuits are utilized in power electronics.

    • Must have conceptual familiarity with trade studies.

    • Must have conceptual familiarity with how ECAD is used to help create physical circuit card designs.

    • Must have conceptual familiarity with designing to meet concerns of adjacent disciplines, such as thermal, structural, mechanical, reliability, and quality.

    • Must have conceptual familiarity with how specifications are used to drive design decisions.

    • Must be a self-starter, a quick learner, be able to function in a dynamic environment, and have good time management skills.
