Job Summary:

Raytheon Missiles & Defense is looking for an experienced senior engineer to serve as the Program Area Chief Engineer (PACE) for the Naval Air Missile Systems (NAMS) Product Area at our Tucson, AZ location. The candidate will report directly to the Naval Power (NP) Mission Area Chief Engineer (MACE) and is accountable for technical execution on NAMS portfolio programs.

Additionally, the NAMS Program Area Chief Engineer is one of the senior Engineering representatives in this location and a member of the NAMS leadership team. In this role, the Candidate is accountable for the technical efforts of RMD Engineers to ensure efficient Engineering execution and rapid resolution of technical issues. The candidate interfaces with Mission Area and Program Chief Engineers, Engineering Directors and Operations Directors to resolve issues and actions. The candidate in this role is also responsible for technical trades across NAMS to meet performance, cost and schedule. The role will also work on strategic initiatives that increase the efficiency and effectiveness of RMD program engineering within their strategic mission area.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Has technical oversight of all Engineering work in the NAMS portfolio and ultimate responsibility for the technical execution of work spanning the directorates
  • Ensures right level of execution of engineering process and engineering discipline
  • Is responsible for balancing technical, cost and schedule risk
  • Is responsible for the technical integrity of NAMS program work products
  • Facilitates the technical development of Engineering personnel
  • Advances relationships with customers in the area and uses existing connections to deepen Raytheon's business relationships within the broader aerospace community
  • Further expands on critical customer relationships & influences customers to increase business with Raytheon Technologies
  • Orchestrates the engineering response to technical issues in NAMS Program Area, staffing needs and skills balance across all programs

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics or related (STEM) degree. An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for additional 3 years of experience.

  • 12+ year’s professional experience in aerospace/defense industry as an Engineering Leader of large multi-disciplinary teams.

  • Expertise in mechanical design, development, production, system integration, verification, qualification and certification

  • Leadership experience in live flight tests

  • Strong network with OCE, customer community and aerospace industry

  • Examples of managing multiple priorities in a complex environment

  • Experience with technical execution plans

  • Experience leading failure investigation teams to root cause determination

  • Experience in transition to production

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Value:

  • Advanced degree preferred
  • Professional experience in aerospace/defense industry with emphasis on sensors and effectors, their design, integration and verification
  • Experienced leader of integrated product teams in hardware, software, Systems Engineering or Production
  • Examples of history mentoring and apprenticing junior engineers
