Summary of Role:
Performs daily checks, incident handling and service request handing in line with operating processes and expectations.
Participates in the installation, maintenance, administration, and support of Raytheon’s networks in a complex multi-protocol LAN/WLAN environment.
Supports activities associated with the network infrastructure and telecommunications services, including switching, optimization and appropriate management tools, such as Netbrain, IPsoft, Netscout, Statseeker, Netbox, MRTG, or SolarWinds.
Completes preventative maintenance to maintain service operation in line with operating standards and service level agreements.
Responsible for implementing less complex and routine changes and conforming to Operational processes (such as Incident, Problem and Change), procedures and standards.
Supports the monitoring and optimization of network performance in a high availability environment.
Provide on-call support out of normal working hours on a rotational basis.
Adheres to and contributes to the improvement of documentation, processes, and procedures.
Participates in the implementation of projects and programs, ensuring compliance with the necessary delivery and governance processes.
Knowledge & Experience:
In depth knowledge of network systems, including design, troubleshooting, infrastructure, maintenance and operations.
Networking experience in a medium to large environment supporting scalable and highly available distributed networks.
Experience in LAN routing and switching - Cisco IOS knowledge is required.
Experience of configuring and/or troubleshooting distributed networks, routing, switching, wireless in an enterprise environment.
Implementing, troubleshooting VLANs, Trunks, EIGRP, OSPF, Port/Ether Channel, ACLs.
Knowledge and understanding of industry best practices including systems security, compliance, and disaster recover.
Ability to travel.
Ability to work with available information to drive resolution to incidents, problems and requests.
Able to work well with global teams, including time-zone flexibility.
Able to clearly communicate status, risks and issues to peers and leadership.
Basic Qualifications:
Cisco LAN/switching experience: Cisco IOS/OSPF/EIGRP/VLANs/Trunking/ACLs.
Familiarity with LAN and wireless and some exposure with each.
Candidates who have worked an on-call rotation and understand networks have to be available 24/7.
Candidates who can interface with end users when there are network issues. Background with help desk/call center or customer service experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in both local area network and wireless networking technologies including Cisco and Aruba.
Prior experience in aerospace, defense, or highly regulated technical industry.
