Position Overview
Come and join us in the Pacific Northwest and support the development of Helmet Mounted Displays, Head Up Displays and Multispectral Camera Systems for aerospace applications at Collins Aerospace. We develop cutting edge technologies for pilots in both military and commercial markets. We are the group that developed the HMD for the F-35 pilot as well as the HUD for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner along with many more exiting platforms. We are working on our next generation products and looking to add a highly motivated new grad optical engineer to our group.
An Optical Engineering degree or similar field of study is required. The new hire will need an understanding of geometrical optics, diffractive optics, illumination design, opto-mechanical design and have an interest in augmented reality displays, and systems engineering. Zemax and TracePro are our optical design and analysis software packages of choice, but not a requirement.
The new grad optical engineer will work with a mentor as well as a multidisciplinary team to capture requirements, develop and execute trade studies, hardware development plans, optical designs, interface with suppliers, develop and execute verification and test plans as well as support test equipment design and transition into production.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of prior relevant experience OR
In absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience is required
Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations
Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder
