Packaging Engineer (Onsite)

Raytheon Intelligence and Space (RI&S) Supply Chain Logistics team is seeking a Supply Chain Specialist to serve as a Packaging Engineer responsible for shipping of contractual government owned assets in accordance with Defense Contract Management Agency Transportation rules and regulations.  The packaging engineer will also develop and oversee packaging requirements for various non-contractual material and equipment.  The candidate selected will perform a wide array of duties from Customer Service, collaborating with peers and internal customers, SAP processes, Contract reviews, creating Packaging Instructions, Problem Solving, and verifying accuracy of documentation for outbound shipments upon receipt into the Pack & Ship process.

• Ensure a safe working environment
• Engineering lead for ordering and maintaining Packaging Instructions (SPI’s).  This includes ordering materials to support packaging lines, boxes, bags bubble wrap, stretch film, banding, custom containers, etc.
• Working with Program and Internal Customers to verify incoming documentation and hardware
• SAP (APEX & PRISM) processes supporting Pack Ship
• Reviewing and monitoring packaging requirements from ICMS and WAWF Raytheon Contracts
• Review and provide Packaging Instructions per contractual requirements with the use of Mil-Std-2073, ASTM D3951 and Mil-Std-129
• Review and provide packaging instructions and follow classified requirements
• Proficient in hardware, software, and training for setting up IUID utilizing an ECC200 Data Matrix, and creation of RFID

Required Skills:

• Experience with technical issues associated with logistics or operation requirements
• Ability to effectively drive positive change in a complex and dynamic environment
• Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills
• High data entry speed and accuracy
• IATA and 49 CFR Hazmat Certification with packaging and shipping knowledge
• Adhere to operating policies and procedures and be able to contribute to continuous improvement

Desired Skills:

• Support Pack/Ship at multiple shipping areas to ensure compliance with pack instructions and the safety of equipment being prepared for shipment to customers and suppliers.
• Manage and maintain inventory and orders for all specialized packaging materials
• Assist other Logistics areas with packaging and handling issues to ensure part protection
• Responsible for managing the recertification requirement of all Logistics equipment and the testing and recertification of all ESD items
• Cooperate with Mission Assurance (Quality) to mitigate quality issues and utilize the RCAS (Root Cause and Corrective Action) system
• Collaborate with cross-functional groups in CA, FL, IN, and TX to implement Logistics projects

Required Education (including Major):

• Bachelor's Degree in Packaging or Mechanical Engineering
