Principal Database Administrator (Onsite)

Database Engineers are needed on multiple mission-critical classified programs.  Experience all aspects of database administration and software development as a member of a fast-paced agile team.

What we are looking for:
The ideal candidate for this position would be a well-rounded database administrator with some software development experience.  The candidate must be able to adapt quickly to changing needs and technologies.

Security Clearance Requirements:

An active and in-scope Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) U.S. security clearance 
This position is eligible for a sign on bonus of up to $20,000 for the candidate hired with an Active TS/SCI that can be verified before start at RIS

Work Location:

State College, PA or Dulles VA
Relocation assistance available provided final candidate meets eligibility requirements.

Required Experience:

• Eight (8) years of experience with Database Administration:
• Installation, configuration, maintaining, and monitoring of various relational database management systems (basic database administration)
• RDBMS such as: Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL
• SQL such as: PL/SQL, PL/pgSQL, SQL scripting
• Experience developing migration strategies to port existing RDMS systems to the latest software version
• Experience with source control tools such as:
• BitBucket
• Git
• Experience with software engineering tool administration

Desired Experience:

• Software development experience with languages such as Java and Python

• Experience working in a small, geographically distributed team

• Strong automation background with the ability to troubleshoot complex problems

• Produced documentation for installation, backup and recovery, upgrade and maintenance procedures for deployments

• Experience with scripting and test automation

• Experience providing support to the software engineering development team with tasks including: development and update of schemas for microservice applications, provide recommendations and code changes to resolve database related bottlenecks

• Assist system administrators with hardware configurations, software installations and upgrades

Education Requirement:

8 years of relevant experience with a BS degree (typically STEM focused - Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics,); or 6 years of relevant experience with a MS degree (typically STEM focused - Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics,)
