    We are hiring for a Principal Engineer, Flammability Certification in Winston Salem NC. The role includes research, planning and execution of the FAA certification process. Performs and/or leads complex engineering assignments that may involve equipment or product design, testing of materials, preparation of specifications, process studies, or research investigations.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Leads engineering assignments usually representing a significant portion of a larger project.
    • Selects engineering techniques to solve problems and make design decisions.
    • Represents the Flammability Certification team in internal technical and design reviews.
    • Compiles FAA certification documentation for submission to commercial aircraft OEM's and regulatory agencies.
    • Responsible for the review and approval of design changes for certification substantiation.
    • Responsible for complex engineering tasks including process improvements and risk reduction activities.
    • Performs material selection and material specification correlation.
    • Participates as a team member in a specific phase of a broad engineering project.
    • Directs preparation of appropriate documentation for assigned projects.
    • Provides technical leadership to a small group of temporarily assigned engineers and technicians.
    • Ensures successful completion of the assigned project phase within the budgeted time and cost constraints.
    • Participates in defining of engineering approaches and in planning/scheduling work.

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Familiarity with standard aviation materials.
    • Prior working experience in the aerospace industry, specifically with aircraft interiors.
    • Prior experience reviewing and approving drawings.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to prepare and give presentations.
    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and productively with team members and cross functional teams.
    • Ability to work proficiently in Microsoft Office Suite applications and engineering related software programs.
