Position summary

Raytheon Technologies is looking for high-energy, self-driven team members with demonstrated track record to join our team as a Principal Firmware Engineer-Video.  The candidate is responsible for developing FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) level requirements derived from system level requirements, developing associated architectures, implementing design, performing simulations and analysis and testing of the FPGA, module, and/or unit in a laboratory setting. The candidate will be familiar with latest technology trends in the area of microprocessors, memory, FPGAs and interface protocols. The candidate will work in the product development team environment with system and software engineers. 

This position may require occasional business related travel.

This position is located in McKinney, TX.

Basic Qualifications:

•Minimum 8 yrs of experience in FPGA Logic design and testing

•Electrical Engineering and/or related technology proficiency

•Hands-on experience in testing of products using FPGA debugging tools

•Experience with interfaces and bus standards such as:

•PCIe &10/100 Gb Ethernet

• Multi-gigabit standards e.g. GigE Vision/ HD-SDI, CoaXpress, Aurora, and/or CameraLink

•Experience designing with Xilinx and/or Altera FPGA/SoCs•Zynq, Kintex/Virtex Ultrascale and newer

•Experience with video optimization such as:•Non-uniformity correction

•Contrast Enhancement, Video Processing

•Color Correction

•Exposure control

•Experience with image sensor integration, e.g. new visible and IR cameras

•Excellent team player, works well with interdisciplinary teams, e.g. mechanical, optical, software

•Ability to work self - guided and develop priorities on multiple tasks as well as provide technical guidance

•The ability to obtain and maintain a US Secret security clearance.  U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Desired Qualifications:

•Matlab – HDL coder

•Experience in low volume, high complexity development environments

•Experience designing with FPGAs, SoC’s and real-time microcontrollers

•Multi-Gigabit transceivers, DDR and flash memories

•Background in Sensor and Read Out IC

•Experience working on Agile Teams using JIRA

•Knowledge of GitLab DevSecOps tools

Required Education:

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.

Desired Education:

Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or other related field is preferred
