Principal Hardware Lead Engineer (Part-Time)

We have openings supporting programs for our US military and various international customers, keeping the world safe from foreign threats.  As a Principal Hardware Lead Engineer, you will be the lead of Integrated Program Team(s) creating complex hardware solutions implemented in Circuit Card Assemblies (CCA’s) that may contain processors, Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs), System on Chip (SOC), and Complex Programmable Logic Devices (CPLDs). Lead activities may include initial concept development all the way through transitioning to production. This position may require occasional business-related travel.

You will be a member of a multi-disciplinary group of System, Hardware and Software Engineers. We are a growing business developing new products in an aggressive and competitive market. The new designs are exciting and technically challenging.

The Principal Hardware Lead Engineer will be the technical lead for the hardware engineering team with a thorough understanding of the following areas:

• Provide day to day oversight and guidance to a group of electrical, firmware, mechanical, and other engineers
• Optimize schedule, cost, and technical constraints
• Risk and opportunity management
• Provide leadership in all phases of hardware development

Part-Time Job Expectations

• Minimum 24 hours per week
• Core hours are 9AM – 3PM, first shift only
• Fixed weekly schedule (3-5 days/Monday through Friday)

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum of 8 years of professional engineering experience with at least 4 years in a Management/Leadership role
• Demonstrated hardware task ownership and accountability for multi-discipline teams
• Experience in project team leadership, including technical, budget, staffing, and schedule management
• Strong team player with good interpersonal skills as well as excellent written/verbal communication skills
• Experience in developing architectures based on high level requirements.
• The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance
• U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations. Prefer a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.

• Demonstrated EVMS experience or other cost account management experience

• Defense and/or Aerospace industry applications

• Experience with Scrum / Agile execution and planning
