Job Description:
Collins Aerospace is looking for a talented and experienced Mechanical Engineer with experience leading projects.
Area of Expertise:
Demonstrated experience defining, managing, and executing projects of varying complexity to include cross function team building/management, IMS generation and maintenance, status reporting, and executing against program requirements.
Demonstrated Experience directing all phases of programs from inception through completion.
Demonstrated Integrated Product Team / Earned Value Management (EVMS) / CAM experience.
Preparing and Presenting Design Status during both Technical Design Peer Reviews and Programmatic Technical Interchange meetings.
Demonstrated Experience with Design, Development and Test in such areas as Hydraulic Systems, Pumps, Heat Exchangers, Energy generation, and Gearboxes.
Demonstrated Experience with Design of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines to include the Product and/or Verification & Validation test.
Demonstrated understanding of Analysis of damage tolerance, durability, design allowables and structures (specifically Finite Element Model generation, Dynamics and Loads, Stability and Stress Fatigue, Thermal analysis, FEA, Crack Propagation, etc.).
Demonstrated understanding Modeling Design processes of components, sub-assembly, and assemblies to include application of proper design definition required for conversion to drawings/layouts.
Experience with Model Based Design practices while also leading the growth and knowledge of MBD across the engineering site.
Responsibilities:
Will oversee and coordinate the administrative and operational aspects of ongoing projects / project teams within program guidelines.
Performs Integrated Program Team Lead / Control Account Management (CAM) Duties as assigned.
Directs the work of employees assigned on projects in technical, manufacturing, and administrative areas.
Establishes design concepts, criteria and engineering efforts for product research, development, integration, and test.
Reviews project and budget status, manages schedules & EVMS and prepares reports.
Monitors and assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and customer-satisfaction goals and objectives.
Meets program schedules and budgets.
Provides input to the integrated master schedule for project(s).
Prepares proposals, business plans, proposal work statements and specifications, operating budgets and financial terms/conditions of contract.
Responsible for procurement of appropriate development hardware used for testing and development.
Responsible for entire projects with significant scope and complexity to include Design/Release plans.
Able to work with little or no direct guidance or direction from others.
Contributes to the company and the industry by advancing the level of knowledge within assigned discipline.
Makes Significant contributions to their team by applying their knowledge / experience of their discipline to documented best practices, design, and test.
Supports the development and maintenance of guidance/work instruction supporting the engineering design/modeling efforts applicable to model-based design.
Contributes to the program, department, or business unit by applying their advanced knowledge of one or more functional areas.
Has expert knowledge and provides guidance that extends across multiple disciplines
Is seen as a leading expert within their field.

SAP / MRP applications 6+ years
Cost Account and Earned Value Management experience preferred
Teamcenter / ALM /PLM applications 6+ years
NX Design/Modeling Experience
ANSYS/Fluent/Hand Calculation
BA/BS degree w/10+ years’ experience - MA/MS degree w/4–7+ years’ experience- PhD degree w/2–4+ years’ experience
