As a Principal Platform Architect, you will be part of a multi-disciplined team developing, integrating, and deploying a modernized platform infrastructure for a system that is currently tightly coupled to the underlying infrastructure.
The role's core responsibility revolves around the Big Picture mentality - Architecting a platform that is consistent, scalable, efficient, and reduces overall program deployment times. The ideal candidate will understand the High-level goals of the program's needs and will work with the team to suggest and implement solutions accordingly. You will be on a team that is responsible for development and operational environments consisting of a mix of servers, workstations, storage, networks, and custom hardware. These Physical environments provide the enterprise level hybrid-cloud backbone for product development and testing for our large programs producing a critical, strategic national assets.
What You Will Do
Collaborate cross-functionally, building, and refining solutions that align with technical standards, timelines, and budgets
Investigate and present modern technology solutions to improve performance
Design and implement automation and orchestration solutions
Identify gaps and opportunities for improvement of existing solutions
Coordinate with the team to Incorporate Cyber based solutions to the product
Collaborate across teams to define requirements and dependencies
You will coordinate needs and priorities specific to the implementations with Technical and Program and IPT Management
You will ensure platform implementation is in accordance with the scope of the contract requirements
You will ensure compliance with the program's discrepancy / problem reporting and review process
You will use Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE) concepts and processes to design and develop solutions
You will leverage company and industry best practices and capabilities to architect, develop and implement modern platform solutions
Able to understand Programs high level goals and can break down complex ideas into solutions and relatable tasking
Current CompTIA Security + or ability to obtain
Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires bachelor's degree in science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and 8 years of systems engineering experience
Experience in big picture design and Architecture, designing, implementing, and integrating platform infrastructure services on Linux based Operating Systems
Experience with containerization using technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker
Experience with implementing an on-prem cloud in VMware
Active and transferable U.S. government issued TS/SCI clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Qualifications We Prefer
Experience with Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE) concepts
Experience deploying, configuring, and supporting CICD Pipelines tools (E.g. Jira, Confluence, Bit Bucket, Jenkins, Artifactory, Gitlab)
Experience with Traditional Compute, Network, and storage Architectures
Experience with automation frameworks such as Chef, Puppet, and Ansible
Experience with Containerization utilizing tools such as Kubernetes
Experience with Platform deployments and associated activities
Experience with Software Development Processes and Architecture Models (API Gateways, Database Models, etc.)
Experience developing, testing & delivering applications w/in a DevSecOps framework
Background in COTS/FOSS product installation, configuration, and integration
Strong interpersonal skills: Possess the ability to communicate technical and project information clearly and effectively to peers, management, and external associates
Experience working in a technical environment interfacing with systems, or software engineering disciplines

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
