We have an opportunity for an engineer who is seeking to utilize their strong academic background and professional experience in RF/Microwave system theory and design to help develop the next generation of Raytheon Radar Receiver, Exciter, and Transmitter products. The responsibilities of the Principal RF Design Engineer include: architecture development, requirements analysis, hardware design, hands on testing of components, circuit card assemblies, and subsystems. Technical support during the transition to production and support to production activities are also expected. Team leadership skills including cost and schedule management plus proposal writing and presentation experience are desired.
This Principal RF Design Engineer role will be based either in Tewksbury, MA or Marlborough, MA and 100% on-site.
Responsibilities to Anticipate:
Design and development of transmitters, receivers, or exciters.
Design and optimization of RF circuits - either chains of components (receiver, exciter, etc.) or individual parts (filters, limiters, couplers, etc.).
Working with interdisciplinary teams - power, digital, mechanical, etc.
Schematic capture and RF routing.
Transition to production.
Basic Qualifications:
Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum 8 years’ of prior work experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years’ of prior work experience.
Experience with Microwave/RF system, subsystem and/or component analysis, design and/or test.
Experience with electromagnetic simulation tools (https://e.g., HFSS, ADS, CST, and/or Mentor Graphics’ Xpedition) and analytical tools (https://e.g., MATLAB).
The ability to obtain and maintain a https://U.S. government issued security clearance is required. https://U.S. citizenship is required, as only https://U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience translating system performance and operation specifications into hardware requirements, design, and test specifications.
Background in designing for manufacturability, producibility, and cost constraints, which includes yield and margin analysis.
Problem-solving skills with ability to proactively identify alternate solutions to overcome difficult technical challenges.
Experience in cost estimating, plus budget, and schedule management.
Experience in technical writing and oral presentations.
Technical background in any of the following areas:
Cascade analysis and/or frequency planning
Filter design and fabrication
Circuit card assembly and fabrication
High speed data converter test / characterization
Low Noise RF source design and test experience
