We are seeking a C/C++ Software Engineer to join our Physical Sciences & Systems business unit located a stone’s throw from seaside Newport, Rhode Island. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to Linux software development on a server based real-time multi-threaded platform, integrating with custom hardware, and integrating with submarine networks.  The ideal candidate enjoys in a multi-disciplinary role and is comfortable adapting to and identifying new technologies as needed.

What you will do

• Develop software for deployed DoD Linux real-time software and application specific support tools such as logging analysis tools, GUIs, simulators used for development and testing.
• Develop driver software and interface specifications for external recorders, sensors, and network interface.
• Collaborate with a cross-functional team testing your contributions and analyzing performance
• Integrate components you develop into a larger system in preparation for real world testing and deployment.
• Make a difference for our future Navy sailors

What you need

• BS in Computer Science, or relevant discipline and 8 years of experience or MS grad with degree and 5 years of experience
• Experience developing software in and for a Linux environment
• Proficiency using C/C++
• Position may require some amount of overnight travel to support field testing and customer interaction.
• Active / current US Government / DoD Secret clearance or higher

Additional Skills that would be great

• Additional software engineering experience
• Familiarity with Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence, or Coverity.
• Experience with POSIX pThreads or other multi-threaded constructs
• Experience with hard-real-time processing optimization
• Advanced degree or additional experience will be compensated appropriately
