    Position summary

    1000 ground stations deployed all around the world to provide on-ground and enroute VHF Digital Link (VDL) Mode 2 coverage. The system is part of a critical infrastructure to support ACARS (Aircraft Communication Addressing and Reporting System) and ATN in which Air Traffic Control (ATC) and Aeronautical Operational Control (AOC) messages are exchanged.

    This role will be in a collaborative hybrid role environment located in Annapolis, MD.

    What YOU will do:

    • You will perform full life-cycle software development including designing system and software solutions; supporting implementation, integration, acceptance testing and deployment.

    • You will support a large-scale global aviation network infrastructure with heavy design focus in redundancy, high availability, and security.

    • You will develop software for air-ground/ground-ground communication, positional data processing, transport/routing/link layer protocols, radio interfaces, hardware/OS customization, and remote deployment capabilities.

    • You will collaborate closely with system engineering/performance, network engineering, system acceptance and field operation teams.

    • You will provide support for product deployment, field monitoring, troubleshooting and operator trainings.

    • You will participate in lab/field integration and industry activities with avionics vendors, Satellite Service Providers, Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs) from domestic US, Europe and Asia.

    • You will utilize a mature ISO/SEI CMMI compliant process to produce all work products.

    • You will support project leadership, project planning, execution, monitoring and closure activities.

    • YOU will learn to deliver new complex software features to customers in alignment with product road maps.

    • YOU will grow your professional skills by being trained on ACARS and ATN in which Air Traffic Control (ATC) and Aeronautical Operational Control (AOC) messages

    • YOU will learn how to deliver in partnership with the whole team in a Scaled Agile environment.

    Education & Experience:

    • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience

    Qualifications you must have:

    • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. RTX will not offer sponsorship for this position

    • Two (2) years of Software Experience with C++/Python, Object Oriented Design, and Data Communication.

    The salary range for this role is 105,000 USD - 221,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
