    This position is within the Collins Missions Systems business unit in the Simulation and Training Solutions (STS). STS builds simulation and training systems and products for both military and commercial customers. Devices range in complexity from desktop trainers to high fidelity weapon system trainers.

    In this position, you will be part of a software development team working on a multi-platform training device using the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe). You can expect to work on many if not all the phases of the software development life cycle. In this role we are looking for an individual who can research, design, develop, test, debug, deploy, and maintain application software while applying a systematic and disciplined quantifiable approach to the construction, analysis, or management of software. Key skills include leadership, cost account management, technical expertise on mission centric software products, critical thinking, time management/organization, and effective communication.  This position requires the ability to obtain a US secret security clearance.  Most aspects of the job are done in a classified lab environment and requires daily onsite presence.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Decompose complex system level requirements to user stories and groom/prioritize the team backlog to streamline execution of program priorities

    • Draft and organize capabilities and features to support customer delivery schedules, scope, and cost

    • Maintain the conceptual and technical integrity of the features for the team by reviewing and validating stories, ensuring they meet the acceptance criteria and definition-of-done

    • Assist the team in the design, development, integration, and testing of new capabilities & features

    • Drive and influence decisions which impact cost, schedule, and technical performance for the team

    • Work with the team to prepare program increment plans and objectives and be the spokesperson for the team at Program Increment Planning Events, PO Syncs, team Demos, and End of Sprint Reviews

    • Serve as the teams Cost Account Manager - tracking and reporting Earned Value Management metrics at monthly program reviews

    • Proactively manage risks and seek opportunities, communicating them to the Product Manager and Business Owners

    • Collaborate with the Release Train Engineer, Product Managers, System Architect, and Value Stream Leaders to contribute to the program vision and roadmaps and setting business value and priority to team backlog

    • Perform bidding and proposal activities to support the acquisition of new business

    • Actively mentor and coach junior engineers

    • Job may require travel to customer sites of up to 30% per quarter

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations OR

    • Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience OR

    • In absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required

    • Experience with software development using object-oriented programming languages

    • Experience working as part of a Scrum development team either as a contributor or servant leader roles

    • Must be a U.S. Citizen 

    • Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance.  Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements  

    • Must be able to work onsite

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Proficiency in Object-Oriented Design and Programming using C++ or C#

    • Integrated Development Environment (IDE) such as Visual Studio or Eclipse 

    • Self-starter, able to multi-task and take advantage of opportunities and events to achieve results that meet or exceed expectations. 

    • Demonstrate the ability to perform autonomously on tasks with moderate to high complexity 

    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with employees at all levels in the organization.  

    • Usage of Configuration Management tools (SVN, Git, ClearCase, etc.) 

    • Experience working with Agile, Kanban, or SCRUM development methodologies  

    • Usage of ALM tools (JIRA, Confluence, Crucible, Bamboo)

    • Experience with Embedded Hardware and Software Design, Sensor Integration, Software Implementation, data protocols

    • Familiarity with the concepts of Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) environment 

    • Experience with Computer Network Protocols (Ethernet, TCP, UDP, HTTP)
