The Software Products Engineering (SPE) organization develops software applications, including integration and test on missiles, launchers, radars, naval systems, fire control and other complex systems.  Our precision software and firmware integrates operating systems, device drivers, networking, and control software to bring together sensor, guidance, and flight control processing features to complete the mission.  Our 2000+ software engineers design, develop, and build innovative solutions for our customers.  

We are currently seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join the Command and Control and Battlefield Radar (C2BFR) software team in Fullerton, California. The C2BFR team utilizes state-of-the-art technologies and real-time computing architectures to provide next-generation radar capabilities to our customers.

The C2BFR department is the focal point for radar software development including target detection, tracking, identification/classification, and calibration/diagnostics.

The Principal Software Engineer will be responsible for supporting multiple programs and multiple platforms within a software product line and expected to perform as an individual contributor, as part of a high performing Integrated Product Team. Tasks will include software design, software development, software debugging, integration and testing.
 
There may be short term travel opportunities to sites across the United States and internationally to support system integration and test activities.

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Typically requires a BS with an emphasis in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or other related field with 8+ years of experience. In absence of a degree a minimum of 12 years of experience is required. An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for additional years of experience.

• Experience developing C++, Java or C applications

• Experience with Real-Time Operating Systems such as Linux and VxWorks

• The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Value:

• Experience developing software in a team-based development environment, preferably Agile/SCRUM

• Broad real-time development experience (high performance, multi-threaded software designs)

• Experience in the radar domain such as receiver, exciter, waveforms, digital beamforming, signal processing

• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink

• Advanced experience developing with C++ using object-oriented design

• Software development experience in a Department of Defense environment

• Excellent communication, technical writing, oral presentation, and interpersonal skills

• Self-starter and ability to lead development, integration and test activities

• Experience with Software Integration, DevOps, test automation

• Experience with version control (such as git, cvs, svn, ClearCase)

• Focus on individual and team efficiency improvement

The salary range for this role is 94,000 USD - 196,000 USD; however, Raytheon Technologies considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.
