    This is a software development position that is poised in high-end computer graphics technology that is used in flight simulation products for the training of flight personnel for both commercial and military aircraft. It involves the real-time rendering of out-the-window and sensor views using multi-GPU image generators to display to several synchronized video output channels. Current product technology is OpenGL-based, with game engine technology being introduced in future products. If you are interested in high-end computer graphics, this is the job for you.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Apply the knowledge of the Product domain: Requirements, Design, Development, Test and release software processes, tools, methods, and coding best practices with primary emphasis on software design, development, and test development and automation.

    • Demonstrate an understanding of how to incorporate the appropriate Collins Aerospace processes and tools into product development and testing, resulting in increased product quality and improving customer satisfaction.

    • Design, develop, integrate, and test software and document in areas such as: software problem reports, change requests, software components, and software test scripts.

    • Perform software debugging using appropriate techniques and tools.

    • Perform in cross-functional team efforts in integration, verification and validation for products and sub-systems.

    • Provide engineering estimates for own work on tasks like those previously performed.

    • Apply test engineering skills to refine and improve the software testing process by means of test automation, test improvements, reduction in test time, and test planning for regression and release testing.

    • Contribute to software engineering requirements capture, analysis and creation for well-defined software designs.

    • Perform work as part of an agile team, apply agile principles, and use versatility to be able to perform development, testing, and possibly even agile leadership responsibilities if needed by the team.

    This position is remote and will work primarily offsite. However, hybrid and onsite options are available if preferred in Salt Lake City, UT.  

    Basic Qualifications

    • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience

    • Experience in systems or software engineering, and/or project execution roles.

    • Must have experience with Multi-GPU Syncing.

    • Must have experience with C++.

    • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Python programming skills

    • General computer graphics knowledge

    • Software test engineering skills - Requirements analysis, test case design and development, test coverage analysis, test planning, and test execution and recording of results.

    • Good communication skills, verbal and written

    • Must be able to work in an agile team environment

    • Demonstrate communication, documentation, and collaboration/teamwork skills 

    • Deterministic real-time execution – High throughput, low latency

    • Shaders and data-parallelism

    • Unreal Engine – building game engines
