    The Core Structures HCF (High Cycle Fatigue) team is looking for an experienced and highly motivated Principal Structures Engineer to develop, deploy and support structural analysis methods and applications that transform PW’s HCF design and analysis capability.  Core Structures HCF is responsible for engineering processes related to HCF design, lifing, and validation of commercial and military engine hardware.  Position responsibilities are primarily within the HCF design sub-team with opportunity to support tasks across the entire HCF group.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Engage teams throughout engineering during all IPD phases to assess requirements across the discipline, identify commonality, and streamline engineering processes through automation and standardization. 
    • Support teams through planning and execution of HCF analysis from conceptual design through RRCA (Relentless Root Cause Analysis).
    • Engineering process development and support (methods, applications, documentation).
    • Advanced structural modeling and analysis.
    • Task planning and management.
    • Standard work and training material development.
    • Mentor and train.
    • Integrated Product Development (IPT)/ Component Integrated Product Team (CIPT) customer interfacing.
    • Technical and executive leadership presentation.

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Aeronautical, Aerospace, or Mechanical Engineering or in a related Engineering degree and 8+ years prior relevant experience, OR
    • Advanced Degree in Aeronautical, Aerospace, or Mechanical Engineering or in a related field and 5+ years prior relevant experience.
    • US Citizenship required due to government programs.
    • Travel less than 5%.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Security Clearance.
    • Proficiency in FEM/FEA, mesh-morphing, vibration, fatigue and fracture mechanics.
    • Proficiency in ANSYS/ANSYS APDL, NX, Matlab, Python, Github.
    • Experience in airfoil design, bench and rig/engine test.
    • Experience leading and managing teams and projects.
    • Experience developing and validating structural analysis methods and applications.
    • Ability to propose innovative solutions to complex engineering problems.
    • Demonstrated success working effectively and independently in a fast-paced, team environment.
    • Strong focus on results with the ability to drive tasks to completion.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
