The Simulation & Training Solutions (STS) team is seeking a Principal Test Director (TD) to join our team in Binghamton, NY. STS develops and builds simulators and training systems for both military and commercial customers, with the primary focus being the defense industry.  STS Training Device products cover a range of complexity and include desktop trainers, part task trainers, full-flight simulators, sophisticated maintenance training devices, high fidelity weapon system trainers and virtual training devices.

The Principal Test Director (TD) will primarily work on rotorcraft programs, including VH-92A, CH-148, and UH-60 platforms. The Test Director is the primary STS point of contact for the Verification and Validation Integrated Product Team (IPT).The TD collaborates with program management, project engineering, the customer and end users to plan and execute test events. Test events are run at customer facilities and travel is required. The TD also acts as a Subject Matter Expert during working groups and requirements definition. The TD records and tracks discrepancies that are identified during test events. The TD works with engineering to correct and retest deficiencies. The end goal of this process is to verify that all requirements are met and to validate that the training device meets the stated needs of all stakeholders.

The Test Director role requires a person with strong leadership and organizational skills who are also thorough and detail oriented. Excellent oral and written communication skills are a must. A successful candidate will have professional pilot experience in rotary wing and fixed wing platforms, and experience with simulator development and testing. This candidate will be able to apply their experience to add value for Collins Aerospace’s training device customers. This position will be located onsite at our Binghamton, NY location. A comprehensive relocation package is available for eligible candidates.

What you will do:

  • Be the primary STS point of contact for the program Test IPT

  • Plan and execute program test events at contractor and customer facilities.

  • Collaborate with program managers, engineers, the customer and end-users throughout the project lifecycle to ensure effective communication.

  • Create, update, and manage program test procedures.

  • Record and manage discrepancies found during test events.

  • Produce Test Plans and Test Results Reports for delivery to customers.

  • Work with system engineers to populate requirements verification and validation information.

  • Support engineering during integration phases

  • Provide status updates to Cost Account Managers

  • Provide inputs and support to the new business bid process!

  • Cultivate a culture of ownership, accountability, innovation, and technical excellence.

  • Travel to customer sites.

Education & experience:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience.

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a https://U.S. government issued security clearance is required.

  • https://U.S. citizenship is required, as only https://U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Skills you must have:

  • Professional pilot credentials (OEM Test Pilot, Military, Commercial, etc.)

Skill we value:
