Position summary

Raytheon Vision Systems, Focal Plane Operations is seeking an experienced Process Engineer with a strong background in supporting Semiconductor Fabrication. This position is for Second Shift in a sustaining and support role. This position will focus on processes required in the manufacture of Silicon wafers for various technologies including Focal Plane Arrays. The selected candidate will work with a team of Technicians, Product Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers and Equipment Engineers in a wafer fabrication clean room setting.

The position will also include managing process development and improvement projects, including novel processing techniques, yield increase, throughput, and safety improvements.  The selected candidate will be responsible for reviewing material in WIP, certifying operators, dispositioning out of flow material, and hands on processing of novel electro-optic devices.  The candidate should have familiarity with some or all of these processes: Wet Etch, Dry Etch, Photolithography, Sputter Deposition, PECVD, and Metrology.

Specific knowledge of the processes and materials used in a silicon foundry environment is desirable, including experience with advanced packaging development and techniques. The candidate should be able to work independently, with the ability to effectively understand and administer disposition authority for out of flow material or material requiring Engineering Review.

Required Skills:

  • 2+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • Experience in cleanroom or laboratory chemical processes
  • Experience with metrology equipment used in laboratory or cleanroom environments
  • Experience using MES systems in a Semiconductor manufacturing environment
  • Familiarity with cleanroom work environment and principles (ISO Class 5)
  • Experience in understanding chemical safety data and ability to follow and advise on safety protocols including the use of Personal Protective Equipment
  • Experience developing and delivering presentations (verbal and/or written) to key stakeholders
  • Computer literacy (Excel, Word, PowerPoint as well as the ability to learn and use engineering and manufacturing software)
  • Ability to work in a cleanroom environment wearing full coverall garments
  • Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Design of Experiments (DOE/ANOVA)
  • Ability to work 2nd shift

Desired Skills:

  • 4+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • Experience with wet etch, lithography, plasma cleaning and associated semiconductor process equipment
  • Experience with Vacuum System technologies, including dry etch and deposition
  • Equipment and controls systems experience
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings or schematics
  • Good mechanical aptitude and/or chemical handling ability
  • Understanding of basic semiconductor physics
  • Experience with Infrared Detector Technology
  • Advanced packaging experience
  • Supervisory experience
  • Industrial/Government experience or internships

Required Education (including Major):
Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience required
